Sounds like Winter isn't coming until 2018 now.

I hate being stuck in between wanting a coach gone and not wanting the team to lose.
There are some coaches you give time because they took over a bad situation like Elliot then there are coaches that are just hopeless like CTS. Even if Cook can turn the offense around we will have the CTS glass ceiling overall for the program holding us back.

I am also disappointed in the lack of creativity amongst our foes regarding the Summer theme. So many possibilities, a wella wella wella

UNCC has had Mrs Rose for decades, and likely will keep the football coach as well for at least the rest of his contract.

Another difference is that GS fans are numerous and they care a lot about the lack of leadership for their program. UNCC fans hardly exist.

We had been successful at the FCS level. We live in a hotbed of recruiting talent and enjoyed success in our first two years in FBS because of it. Our AD says we should expect our transition to be challenging and that it will "take a while" to get where we want to be, but the problem is FBS football only "got hard" when he made a bad coaching hire. I guess someone forgot to tell App State that they were suppose to suck for a few years before they got good. The problem here is that instead of our AD recognizing that we've taken several steps back as a program, he insults our fanbase and blames us for it. That's why GS fans are pissed.

I'm so glad that we have an AD that actually went to school here and is passionate about the success of the athletic program. GaSo, yall gotta let that loon go!

At USA, We'll see if our AD is going to be available for any interested program. If he makes the right decision on a coaching change. If not, he may be available.

RE: GaSo AD: Fans were disillusioned by success
Ever since Ga Southern vs NCSU, I have liked Ga So, they actually turned me on to the Sunbelt. I was getting ready to post what has happened with them since I thought they were one of the better SB teams. Then I saw this thread, I think I now see what happened. You all need to get rid of this guy. He actually makes ECU's AD look brilliant. Success builds expectations, not disillusionment. I think APP & ASU fans would attest to that. I love what Coach Steve Logan says "Elite teams like Alabama, OSU, FSU, etc have learned they have a responsibilty to win. That is what makes an elite program different from a good program" I see that as no different for any FBS team, no matter the conference. I will be the first to admit, my Wolfpack never has been near this level. I hope they are taking baby steps finally towards it but it is a long process. Clemson is about at the finish line of this process.

I think Ark St and App have that expectation, they will play the difficult games but they expect to win enough SB games to go bowling and have a shot as conference champs.

RE: GaSo AD: Fans were disillusioned by success
Southern fans are now at the point where they don't even care who the opponent is anymore! We as fans are so disgusted with TK and the HC, they have gained are full attention!

We need to stop the bleeding IMMEDIATELY!!!! We have CANCER right now and the doctor won't recommend any treatment!

RE: GaSo AD: Fans were disillusioned by success
GaSo problems all stem from the AD. He is a former Wake Forest football player who wants to play football coach rather than run the athletic dept as the business that it is. He meddles in the coaching and hired a coach that he could control. In affect, TK is the head football coach and he needs to go for a GaSo to return to being a viable opponent.

His comments just don't make sense. Paraphrasing - 1) we had success early, 2) everyone else struggles with the transition, 3) we're struggling now. I'm not sure how 2 and 3 can logically follow from 1. If he had said 1) we did well in the transition, 2) we hired a coach who can't maintain either the recruiting or level of play we've seen in the past, 3) we'll have better success with our next head coach, I'd understand much better.

Good luck with your next AD and football coach, Eagles. Whoever those might be will very likely be a step in the right direction.

Well I can understand not wanting to throw your coach under the bus. Any prospective coach down the road would be interested in whether or not his boss will trash him in public as well.

However, something like: "I recognize that our performance at this point is not up to the expectation we have at Georgia Southern. I've seen improvement in some areas as the season has progressed and the coaching staff is committed to returning us to the level of performance my administration and the fans of Eagle Nation expect to see on the football field"

That way you totally acknowledge we have an expected level of success that is not being met, he tips his cap to the coach a bit to say that he's seen some things get better, and he also acknowledges that the fans are watching closely.

You can convey a message that you're not up to snuff without just tearing someone down. TK's comments implied there was something wrong with the fanbase though and that's the WAY wrong approach.

Yes we have our idiots, everyone does. The problem wasn't so much that we were 0-3, but the fact that we've only won 5 out of our last 16 games. That's a big damn problem.

Amen and yes no matter who we hire I am sure they will be a step in the right direction.

Helen Keller would be a step in the right direction and she was blin...well is dead.

We expect as a fan base to win the difficult games, but apparently our coaches don't.

I swear we wrote the book on crappy performances the first 4 games of the year followed by complete domination the rest of the way.

Agreed. He doesn't seem to understand that those same "disillusioned fans" are pouring significant dollars into the program ... and will pour more dollars into a successful program. I'd be very careful about calling out fans like he did.

Alas, it looks like the GS issues may get worse before they get better.
