Why on earth would they want to play Maine? That would be ridiculously stupid. It would take a ton of money to bring them down, and nobody would care to show up and watch.

easy answer...because the AAC is pretty much paying for it.

AAC paid Maine 350k to cancel. Then the AAC paid Ga State 1.1 million to cancel.

Ga State can then offer Maine the .1 from 1.1 million to come play in Atlanta.

Maine then essentially gets 450k to play Ga State, while Ga State walks away with a cool million. (and both schools get 12 games)

(see USA vs Presbyterian after hurricane Matthew)
No

That is all just stupid.

Why would we want to pay for a 10k attendance game?

A potential win that could count towards bowl eligibility...

that's probably what it came down to as USA knew that game could be the one to get them to 6 wins and a bowl...the same is not true for Ga State.

You really do not understand how the system of monetary exchange works. So once I charge you for something and you PAY, it is no longer YOUR money. Now dont you have directional FL schools to lose to or something? 07-coffee3

We play Coastal and ULM next. If you do not win those two then Maine was not going to help anyway.
