I'm going to post this as a Luckey post:

"We need a backup center who has more body mass than King and old enough to legally drink... Doesn't have to be too quick to play the Murphy zone." Lol.

Regardless of who the coach is we need a high scorer with a consistent outside shot

Agree completely. Someone who can get hot every few games and light it up can single handedly win a few games.

And I don't care if he can't play defense. Just go in there for 7 - 8 minutes and take 3 or 4 treys and hopefully make two. If he does he's changed the game. The other team has to adjust their defense to guard against outside shooting.

I agree also, however, we may have a player like that already on the team. Unfortunately coaching is a big factor in this. Without an offensive system based on a good ball movement then it's very difficult for a shooter to get open shots. Even a great scorer cannot score consistently without good open looks.

Not sure I agree with you. The open looks are there. I don't think that is the problem.

I actually think both Groce and McAdoo could be that "scorer" you are referring to. McAdoo's leash is so short, but man can he get to the basket. Both he and Groce have sweet strokes. Wish they would shoot more, but they have that look about them that they'll be taken out if they force a shot. Sometimes scorers need to force shots.

Okay, I counter with this:

They are both freshmen and that is the problem. One doesn't normally expect a frosh to be the 'scorer'.

After JT4 is gone, whenever that is, the team will be different. Less in the middle but by then the perimeter players will be more experienced, better.

Perfect fit for 6'4 to 6'6 juco big guard small forward

Ellison can hit open shots as good as anyone from what I've seen.

Groce needs to improve his decision making. Too many times he telegraphs a bad pass into JT4. That's coachable though.

The open shots only come in the rare moments when we have ball movement and sets screens with purpose or get an odd man rush in transitions. These time are fleeting. The rest of the shots come if someone can beat someone 1 on 1 with some hero ball.

This team with a competent offensive minded coach would be far more successful. End of story.

That's fair. Freshmen always hit bumps in the road, which is why I'm usually with you in regards to recruiting JUCOs and transfers. I just think these guys need to be playing more, especially McAdoo. It's not like the guys in front of him are lighting it up. Let the kid figure out how to be a D1 player, because he certainly has the talent for it.

If this was 2011, and Murphy wasn't coaching for his job, McAdoo would be playing 20 minutes a night. Sadly, we have a team stocked full of upper-classmen, and a coach who's seat couldn't be hotter. Bad combo for a freshman in hopes of playing time.

Looks like he was a typical frosh at a good mid-major.

BTW, I looked at WKU THIS year. Lost to WI by 1, 'Nova by 8 and BEAT Purdue!!!

They are having a nice season...

But if you have Jackson and Ellison on the roster already why would current staff want yet another PG on the roster?

Fair question. Could he redshirt a year and then be part of a 2 guard combination with Ellison?

I assume there is no reason for Jackson not to come back, but remember if he has been doing his academics, he is eligible for a graduate transfer. Ditto Minnie. Ditto Harris.

One has to remember when a school takes a D-I transfer that they should (or could) be able to complete their degree after this junior athletic season.

I would assume Harris, if he graduates, can transfer within D-I.

I assume there is no reason to believe Jackson or Minnie are leaving but if they graduate they can...

Yes please. What a sweet stroke.

I'd imagine a lot of schools would be after him. Hopefully we are in that mix.
