This may make them way more relevant then anything they've done on the court recently.

Guess meal plans are not included for scholarship players at Eggs. So, is he saying that $7k to Sumner was for groceries?

Lyons crowing makes me feel like he got a little extra during his college days.

Yeah Mark - I always assumed Lyons and his
cohorts were on the take

Obekpa was the weirdest and most clearly corrupt recruitment of any player I've seen UC go after in awhile.

Agree, Chane Behanan always stood out to me as being super sketchy too.

I bet Tricky promised him lap dances or better.

I read that as one of two things:

Lyons was on the payroll
- OR -
Lyons thinks that playing for X is the equivalent of slavery.

Either way, his tweets do not reflect well on X.

Enquirer throwing some shade at UC; insinuating Lance received some agent money when there is no evidence to support it.

The rumor...is that Stephenson's High School coach...received money...to recruit him to Lincoln High? What?

So the Enquirer has trouble writing stories about UC athletics (other than game reports which include a picture of the box score) but then they send this guy on a mission to try to dig up dirt on UC recruiting?

Seriously the Enquirer taking a page out of the Chris Mack play book by throwing out Lance Stephensons name for no reason to deflect from a xavier issue

A highly rated basketball recruit was an Adidas AAU guy with a tumultuous recruitment who landed at a school who just signed a contract with Adidas after not having been heavily recruited by them for a long period of the cycle. Don't tell me that doesn't sound a little fishy when you remove the parties from the equation.

I'm not saying the Enquirer aren't dummies for bringing something up out of nowhere to detract from the primary issue...but I'll be damned if I say I'm not worried about how the LS stuff went down and if there will be something coming from it.

what is the Enquirer?
Oh, that piece of crap that is only good for Obits, Doc's articles, and "Help Wanted" ads?
Some would say that it's not the ENQ role to be a cheerleader for UC. If the ENQ would
realize how many Alumni and employees reside in the ENQ's market, they may realize that UC could be
an ingredient in extending the ENQ's existence. As for me, the ENQ died (aka subscribed) in 2005.

But we know the parties so...

That article was lame to even mention the rumors. Unsubstantiated rumors. The Enquirer is a POS.

Exactly... it's an article built on pure speculation. No business running something like that. If you think it's suspicious, investigate and see if something turns up. Running with BS speculation is idiotic and irresponsible.

Exactly. Utter nonsense that they'd print this.

The failure of the Enquirer has nothing to do with the Internet. It has everything to do with the value that they bring/don't bring with their reporting.

Except that a lot of schools where he wanted to go to pulled their offers. The original frontrunners (if I'm reading it right) were Maryland, Kansas, St. John's, Arizona, and Memphis.

Maryland committed a very public recruiting violation (letting him tour Under Armor facilities during his campus tour) so they couldn't offer him.

Kansas landed Xavier Henry, who they preferred over Lance. That put them at the scholarship limit.

Arizona and St. John's (and Florida, UCLA, USC, and others who were connected to him early on) pulled their offers after his sexual assault allegations.

That left Lance with only 3 offers: FIU (Isaiah Thomas was coach then), Memphis (who had just lost Coach Cal to Kentucky), and latecomer Cincinnati. It was an easy choice for him.
