Nice winding road doe. Doesn't matter how you got there. Just what you're doing with it. And if you got kids what you're doing for them.

I raised 2 winners. Never knowing along the way how I was doing. Hoping I was doing it right. Turned out good. Now I'm here as an SME for my year old granddaughter. Still lost on what to do with a girl but learning more every day we watch her.

Congrats and well done. Mine are 8 and 4. The girl. She's 8. Good kid but I'm scared to death we will screw up (or already have). Apparently, the research that says your time to mold your child has to be done by 8 was on target in our home. Feel like we're already beginning to lose her (at least to friends and her own sense of what life is about). The parenting stuff really is terrifying.

Looks like some of the dominos (or Papa Johns I guess with it being Louisville) are starting to fall:

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...s-lose-job

Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino has told members of his coaching staff that he expects to lose his job over allegations the Cardinals basketball program is involved in a federal investigation into fraud and corruption in college basketball recruiting.

My method was you can never spend too much time with them or ever tell them you love them too much. I gave up golf on Saturdays to coach my sons in baseball and basketball. That is built in Dad time. Never picked up golf again and no regrets.

Pulling away to friends is natural and you want them to, to some degree as they'll be having to make decisions on their own down the road and you want them to make good ones. They can't get that experience until they do it on their own. And once they get their driver's license or one of their friends do it's over. They still live under your roof but independence has arrived.

Just enjoy every minute of it. Sounds like you are already. Always teach even when they don't know you're teaching them. I love the relationship I have with both adult sons. Hell, I went to Bonnaroo two summers ago with the youngest just to spend 4 days with him the summer before he got married. I have season football and basketball tickets next to the oldest one. You'll find that even at 57 you never stop parenting.

Good luck with both!

Question for the board. After the remainder of the dominoes fall, does anyone really think things are going to change?

The people who lost their jobs will disappear to live a life of solitude. The people that broke the law will spend their time in a federal prison never to be heard from again in a public way. After they are out they will never coach or be hired by anyone of notoriety. Some schools will have severe punishment levied upon them, but for most institutions the beat will go on. Those schools will look to button up their own shops in house and eventually as time passes the coaches that are willing to take these chances will start taking them again.

It should force a change within the NCAA. I just have no reason to believe that it actually will force them to do anything different. They will talk a good game. They will host conferences with all the "best minds" in college sports, but what will change? It will all be window dressing, because whatever happens through this pales in comparison to the billions of dollars that are on the table in future years with the NCAA Tournament.

Maybe they will punish the school and coaches and let the players from all these schools transfer to G5 schools immediately, but not to other P5 schools. :)

I don't think there will be any big change come from this.

Look at the 2 poster children for 'power cheating'. Bammer football and UK basketball. Both programs have cheated like hell since their existence. Both have been slapped down with penalties in the past.

Did either stay down? Nope. The only schools that I've ever seen slapped down hard and never really recover was SMU football and Cleveland State basketball. Neither a traditional power by any means.

The big boys stay big. Louieville will weather this storm. They're still a top 10 if not top 5 basketball program when it comes to resources. They'll have to boot Pitino but within 5 years they'll be back in the picture.

Meanwhile, Pitino will weather the storm for a year or two, and eventually get a TV gig and make more millions.

Poor guy.

And Pitino's lawyer's response to the FBI situation with UL:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017...707272001/

"Rick Pitino’s attorney Steve Pence promises that [University of Louisville] 'won’t fire Pitino without a bare-knuckle fight,'" Terry Meiners, a Louisville TV and radio personality, posted on his blog.

"Pence predicts that Pitino would prevail in a legal struggle over his reported $44 million buyout," the post continued.

The universities will build walls of legal defense teams, start high-profile public relation campaigns, fire the offending employees and perhaps their supervisors, strengthen their NCAA Compliance Dept's and issue strongly worded statements about their belief in collegial fair play (03-lmfao).

The FBI on the other hand will prosecute the participants on a case-by-case; looking for any and all cooperation from the employing institutions. Highly unlikely that any of the prosecutions move outside the associated athletic departments. The FBI may not even share their findings with the NCAA.

The NCAA may then penalize athletic departments based on the public disclosures and penalties handed down by the Justice Dept., however the universities have a lot more sway over the NCAA than they do over the DOJ.

Louisville Press conference at 1PM, neither Patino or Jurich expected to be there. I expect to hear Used Car Salesman Rick Pitino to be gone also.

Jurich fired because he refused to fire CRP, according to reports

With USM's football/men's basketball expiring this year, it was rumored that Adidas or UnderArmour would be most likely replacement. UnderArmour might have reason now to underbid 01-lauramac2

FIU renewed its 5 year contract with Adidas in 2015 for $2.6M.

I doubt anyone at Adidas would be paying kids to go to a C-USA school.
