Absolutely second this!
Thanks guys! But our biggest competition are two of the bigger SEC programs. In terms of class, if you just keep it in your pants you've outdone the SEC.

This x 999,999,999. I live in Alabama and see it everyday. Every year we receive an assortment of Alabama and Auburn products from our supplier for our business. This year I went out of my way and made sure that we received UAB products as well. It blew the Alabama fans’ minds when they saw the green and gold balloons amongst the crimson & white and orange & blue bouquets. They had several witty remarks but I was quick to point out that we were closer to Birmingham than we are Tuscaloosa. They were seriously upset by the mere sight of this.

It's hard to explain what SEC football does to people in Alabama, isn't it? One of the mods on the UAB board asked a local sports shop if they had UAB merch. They said, "We only carry division 1 schools." And I was doing my MBA at UAB, so lots of grad students who worked in Birmingham and didn't attend UAB for their undergrad, when I mentioned to a class to make sure and come out to an important game even though it was going to be on ESPN. One of the students laughed out loud and said, "UAB will NEVER be on ESPN." This was around 2006 so it's not like CUSA was even remotely new and it was going relatively strong.
