But now: I think Villanueva is getting in trouble with his coaching staff, because he's kind of reversing track..

Quote:He said he had intended to stand at the end of the tunnel where no one would see him, and watch from there as the anthem was played. But once he realized he was visibly outside, he decided he could not turn around and go back to where his teammates were standing, a few feet inside the tunnel.

“Do you walk out of the national anthem and join your teammates?” Villanueva said. “That would have looked extremely bad.”

He added: “I never planned to boycott the plan that the Steelers came up with. I just thought that there could be some middle ground where I could stay in the tunnel, nobody would see me.”

Quote:A major regret for Villanueva was the fact that his actions made his teammates and his coach look bad as they scrambled to explain why he was the only player visible.

“Unfortunately, I threw them under the bus unintentionally,” he said. “Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself, I feel embarrassed.”

It looks like he's turning himself from a hero in the eyes of many NFL fans to a pariah under the threat of the Steelers....

And THAT is why the NFL and the Steelers in particular should be extremely ashamed of themselves.

Fck you Mike Tomlin.

Fck you Pittsburgh Steelers.

Read what I write. Not what you want me to have written.

Quote:Another quote from Alejandro: "People that are taking a knee are not saying anything negative about the military, they're not saying anything negative about the flag, they're just trying to protest that there are some injustices in America."

This whole exercise seems designed more to train people to get in line and shut up than to "address injustices."

Too bad the whole "address injustices" can't be addressed via tight pants and leather balls on a lined field on Sundays. But good thing the whole "shut up and get in line, whitey" isn't working either.

I think you probably don't know the whole story. Tomlin let the players decide what was going to happen.

Villlanueva said that him being outside alone was an accident.

He actually apologized for the incident.

Well, My bartender friends said that Fans watching NFL games this past weekend and last night said They were losing money as less than half the normal turnout didn't happen. Half of crowd that did show up for first games left before 2nd set of games came on. Usually most stay and more come in as day progressed. Didn't happen Sunday. 1/3 rd normal crowd shown up last night.
