Nah, we weren’t ready but are still building and upgrading - you guys have been FBS for a while, what’s your excuse? How the mighty have fallen ...
Speaking of Charlotte, we’ve played them twice and never lost to them. You guys have though, right?
Marshall is the reason there are a few rules in place now, right? When you recruit the way Marshall did, it was easier to win. It was also good for the jails around Huntington - kept them very busy.
Yes we had a down season last year, why, we had a whole OL that didn't play 1 game with the same starting line up, we had 4 players just this off season have back surgery and lost a 4 year starter to a career ending injury 6 games into his senior year.
We also had 4 starting defensive players miss 4 games or more and started a whole secondary full of all freshman, due to graduation and players leaving for the draft.
You know what though, our coach was smart and didn't burn any OL of DL redshirts last year, therefore the RS OL men are all 25 pounds heavier and have a year of practice and weight room behind them. The DLine have all gained agility and can move side to side, And that freshman secondary are now Soph and are probably the best in CUSA and at least a top 5 in the NP5. Add in 4 star and 2016 #3 ILB in the country Jaquan Yulee, 4 star freshman Brandon Drayton mixed in the defense. Also we will get what might be our best defender back in the Charlotte game in Juwon Young.
Before last year the Thundering Herd went 33-5 the previous 3 years. Only 2 programs in IA had a better record with Alabama at 37-1 and Florida State at 36-2.
BTW you can call me back and talk when your program has 3 Heisman Trophy candidates, finishes in the top 25 7 times, has the highest bowl winning % (11-2 sponsored NCAA bowl games), have the 2nd highest winning % at home, it was #1 before last year, beat 14 ranked teams, I could go on but I think you get the picture.
My school has done more in 19 years of IA than your program will only dream about doing this time in 2117. Also our 3-9 record has nothing to do with you getting the holy moly kicked out of you by 42 points. And playing in an erector set stadium that looks like it belongs in some bad D2 conference somewhere. BTW when we moved up the NCAA actually had standards you had to go by. They required us to up our stadium to 30K, we had 28K. Now they let anything in I see.
I'll tell you exactly what I told Charlotte fans. You will never get the proper IA recruits with that stadium. Kids "Buy with their eyes", and most if not nearly all recruits you would go up against with other IA offers will see that.
Enjoy being the homecoming game for everyone not named GA State.
