Huge injury
Just saw that Clemson has lost their place kicker(who was a Lou Groza semi-finalist last year) for the rest of the year with a torn ACL.

Possibly a game changing type of thing for Clemson. Kickers are so volatile- and totally can make the difference. See this past weekend with USC.

Must have blew his knee out with all those damn extra points and kick-offs against Louisville last week. I think Clemson just scored again. Prayers for the young man.

I suspect they will be fine.

RE: Huge injury
Probably go with PK by committee.

Huegel's back-up is former Shrine Bowl kicker Alex Spence. He's probably about as accurate, just hasn't had Huegel's range.

Behind him is SR Christian Groomes. Bigger leg than Spence but not as accurate.

The darkhorse in the mix is actually LB James Skalski. He was also the punter and handled kick-offs for his high school and was named second team All-Region. He also played soccer in HS. Lord help if he handles kickoffs because he was an absolute beast in coverage last year.

If this results in Clemson going for it on 4th and short, that might not be a good thing for their opponents...

Clemson is a large school, go find some walk-on somewhere. It won't be perfect but they'll be fine.

Probably already working on it. Our current punter's dad, former Astro Billy Spiers, was a baseball player who answered an ad in the student newspaper by Danny Ford for a punter. Spiers had punted in high school and won the job.

RE: Huge injury
want to say the injury to the kicker was meaningless? See tonight. Any top team that loses their kicker, let alone a kicker as good as Huegel was- is a big deal.

The replacement went 1/2..

The big deal was that Dabo willingly started an immobile QB tonight which contributed to his concussion. Plus, they were 49% on 3rd Down conversions all season but were 2/11 tonight.

no his replacement was 1/3. Missed 35 and 38 yd field goals. with at least 1 of them being a terrible kick.
