Used to love seeing the Holes-in-one in the paper. " Fred Schnitzle holed the 98 yard Number 3 with a five wood". I'm seeing a short wedge. Guys must have been 90 years old.

RE: Largest Gift in UT's History!
Basically is states that the company is going to keep the smaller building as it head quaters and rent that back from the UT foundation. Then the the UT foundation will take over the land and re purpose the much larger building twhich best suits the universities mission. There were plans to build a new UT Foundation and alumni center and offices but that got put on hold until the master plan was completed. I am sure a state of the art and beautiful facility like this is going to make an amazing home for the entire UT Foundation and their offices. 150,000 square feet is huge, they probably only need a portion of that. Promedica was looking to build the regions new business incubater at the former Willis Day facility downtown but since it was so old it was determined not to be cost effective. This facility is big enough and then some for a new home for a much larger business incubater in which UT is a partner and it seems that both UT and Promedica just found some amazing space to put it sooner rather then later. If I was a betting man I think those will be two of the new tenants. It will be a really nice facility for alumni events no doubt. The UT Foundation should consider renting it out for other larger events and weddings in order to raise even more funds.

Since golf plays at Inverness what about moving tennis over to that property? It would be a gorgeous setting for tennis facilities.

Also, isn't UT involved with some sort of startup business incubation or something? New businesses need offices and there are plenty of offices there.

That does sound nice, country club sport and all. To each their own preferences, I'd rather they stay amongst the hoy-poly. Kind of my same objection to moving Foundation out there. University has enough history as being snooty and not involved with the city. My feeling is present administration sees the errors of that. I think you can have a high performing municipal university and I don't know how you marry community direction with de facto country club.

Research Park sure, though I don't know how present structures are even remotely suitable. Now, if you wanted to build a bowling alley there..... :)

Wait, you think Bancroft-Secor is hoi polloi and Dorr-Richerds is Snooty?

Kind of an interesting mix in that area, but, yeah, not exactly Ottawa Hills or Old Orchard.

Bancroft is main campus where the masses are, right? People who self separate from the masses can be considered snooty, no?

I mean, even the area around Inverness isn't exactly mansion heaven, has nothing to do with the neighborhood. Has to do with the perception of that property and those with access. If the university uses it as a de-facto country club for a few, a property several on the thread already described as "beautiful," then I think it would give the impression that those leading the University have lost their way.

Perceptions are important. The Foundation is meant to serve the people of the University and I think that will work best if they "live" amongst those they serve.
