Kick returner
Now that Cardon Johnson is lost for the season, will Houston take Marcus Marshall out of the kick returner role? Seems like the offense is plenty potent even without great field position and just needs someone to advance the ball and not fumble it away on the return.
There has to be someone else that can take the role and the accompanying full speed hits besides the starting RB.

Has anyone seen who has been working on kick returns in practice this year?

RE: Kick returner
He's still listed as the primary kick returner on the 2 deep. D'Angelo Amos is behind him.

Why not use Jon Miller?

RE: Kick returner
Percy and Amos back there would make a good combo. Both are very quick and could take advantage of coverage mistakes. Or switch Miller in for one of them. Then again with the way our defense is playing, Miller is probably already tired enough from punt returns...

I'm still very concerned about our 3rd string placekick holding role. Damn coaching staff doesn't take placekick holding serious in recruiting. Pisses me off!

It helps that the other team doesn't kick off more than 2x/game.

I guess you missed all the second guessing about playing Schor too long during the ETSU and NSU games?

RE: Kick returner
Well, we know one thing for sure,
There is a proportionately higher injury rate on kick plays than scrimmage plays because of the full speed collisions.

I don't see the need to test the odds. Is Marshall that much better as a kick returner than anyone else on the team? Perhaps he is and it is worth the increased injury risk.

it does play to MM's strengths... run down hill, get your steam going, and then make some good cuts

RE: Kick returner
Mickey Matthews would be a solid KR. Full speed ahead and no cuts to slow the freight train down. Do they make 10 gallon football helmets?
