RE: Question for ECU, and others who have experienced
I like ECU fans, but everything your administration has done since joining this league has been small-time and makes me wish we invited someone else. Most of the schools in this league are making major facility upgrades, hiring up-and-coming and big-name coaches, and generally doing everything they can to make their athletic departments competitive. ECU is making bad hires, retaining and extending a terrible basketball coach and athletic director, and cutting their budget.

We desperately need to raise student fees to compete. Our fans show up to games but generally poor mouth when it comes to the type of support that really matter$. I'm at the end of my rope. The only language that they understand is money. I've withdrawn support until this clown show is gone for good. Sucks in the short run but I don't know how else to effect change.

The conspiracy runs way deeper. There has been a 3-4 decade effort by the powers that be to keep College Football in the State of North Carolina mediocre. The money and power that supports this effort is massive and they do not want anything to interfere with their beloved College Basketball.

As long as we were offering off tin foil head conspiracy theories I thought I would explain why College Football in NC has sucked for so long

While I have been mostly 'doom and gloom' lately, I have to agree and disagree with your points.
1. $55 million plus facilities upgrade to stadium, players amenities and baseball. Construction begins in November.
2. Revenues (related to budget) took a one year hit of $4.3 million. This is not unusual. Cincinnati's revenue for example declined $9.4 million from 2013 to 2015 but has rebounded nicely. ECU's revenue decline was almost entirely in one category, gifts. This is likely due to pledges for new construction and disaffection (see Hood-rich's post) caused by point number 3.
3. Hiring. You are spot on. Compher, Lebo. Montgomery we will see. We hired a Duke assistant coach. In fairness we have played an FCS national champ and 2 top 25 teams for our first 3 games. But yes, it looks bad.
4. Basketball still stinks. Not likely to change while Compher is here. Only hope might be new TV money for hiring upgrades, then work on basketball facilities.
