Just taking inventory of the 2020 class...
Including Tinsley now on scholarship, if my count is accurate, Coach O can sign 6 young ladies to 'ships in this upcoming class.
We already have 4 verbal commits. Two 5'7"-ish guards in Bailey Williams (Cosby HS, Richmond) and Jamia Hazell (SE Raleigh HS). And then, one wing in 6'0" Peyton McDaniel (Twin Valley HS, Elverson PA) and one post in 6'2" Stephanie Ouderkirk (Spotswood HS).
We are loaded with guards for the '20-'21 season with 3 point guards who should be juniors in Green, Tinsley, and Oppenheimer. Then, you add in Williams and Hazell who can each play the 2-guard I'm guessing. You've also got 5'9"-5'10" Carodine and Bellerand adding depth. Our Canadian sharp-shooter Marciszewski at 6'0" could play the 2 or 3.
We are in good shape at the wing as well with current frosh, Jefferson and Tucker, along with McDaniel coming in. I think both Jefferson & Tucker will be starters in their soph seasons a year from now.
That leaves us with the 2 Spotswood ladies in the post in Ouderkirk coming in joining former walk-on Irvine, who I assume will be on 'ship now.
Longhorn has been beating the drum for the need of post players. He's right. Coach O can run a 4-out-1-in approach, but even then we need at least 1 more - preferably 2 more - post commits...or, perhaps even a transfer. I wonder if Dukes volleyball star, M'Kaela White, and her long wingspan 6'4" frame would or could play 1 season of hoops a year from now. Maybe as a grad student. She'd have 1 season of eligibility. But, she may be playing volleyball professionally somewhere. Just a crazy thought.
Go get 'em, Coach O. Maybe while in Europe he can snag a 6'4"-ish post.
