A very sad and emotional ending, just like I remember it being. There was some discussion at the end of the 80's where the Vietnamese were considering offering the U.S. Pacific Fleet home port in Haiphong Harbor when they were resisting the Chinese after the Soviets pulled the plug on funding. At the time we were facing a more hostile environment in the Philippines. I don't know how seriously they considered it, or even if we would have seriously considered it, I just remember feeling how ironic it would have ultimately been if it had been done.

I watched this last night and it was amazing. I need to now go back and watch the previous episodes.

It really isn't that long ago.

I worked with a Vietnamese woman in Houston who was on one of the last choppers out of Saigon. Also with another woman who was one of the boat people escaping from Vietnam in the early 80s.

That's the funny thing about life Bullet. It doesn't matter how long ago it happened it seems just like it was yesterday. Ike's farewell, The Bay of Pigs, Duck & Cover during the missile crisis, McArthur's farewell speech at West Point, JFK, RFK, King, Wallace, Watts, and so many others are just as fresh as the Challenger, Columbia, Columbine, Oklahoma City, and 9/11. I can look at my grandchildren and see their parents as kids. It just goes with life. Our mainframe ages and deteriorates and if we're lucky the hard drive remains intact.

But the hard drive does get a little cluttered.04-cheers As I was saying in a school conference today, as I get older, I understand my ADHD kids better!

That's very true! But, it's our fault. We were given two ears, two eyes, and put in one place. Thanks to technology we are trying to watch multiple places and listen to the news from each, and seldom are paying attention to where we actually are. I somehow think that may be why Jesus always got away from the crowd in order to find a quiet place to think and rest. 04-cheers
