What happened to the Thursday games? The increase in Friday games appears to be at the expense of Thursday games. We used to have some decent options for the Thursday night games. I count seven weeks with only one Thursday night game. There isn't a single Friday without multiple games.

In total, there are 55 Friday games compared to only 37 Thursday games. Some of that is skewed by Thanksgiving, but even if you take those 15 away there are still more Friday games than Thursday.

My thought would also include teams/conferences were probably more in favor of Friday night games to a Thursday (especially if they played the previous Saturday) as it only reduces the shortened week by 1 day instead of 2. As well it's guaranteed (minus Thanksgiving week) to be a night game which is what fans usually prefer. Lastly, it keeps you from competing with more college games as it's become obvious attendance is down throughout a majority of college football...granted game days/times are usually announced during late spring/early summer but it's still happening

in addition to some other reasons listed here, a big one is that networks (read: ESPN) were tired of going up against the NFL.

i believe there used to be a "law" about no college football on friday nights, but it has long not been followed or reversed.....5 or 6 years ago i believe

This is a very bad idea.

Compete with NFL on Thursday's or compete with High school on Friday's. Networks will never beat the NFL so more Friday games
