The UCLA/Stanford game this week will help determine whose win was more impressive, Memphis's or SDST. If UCLA wins, which I believe that they are the better team (UCLA 5th in passing to Stanford's 157th), then Memphis's win clearly is the better of the two games.
I hope those that do the voting actually make that connection. Cuz that's a great point.
Voters are too busy remembering last year when Christian McCaffery lifted Stanford up to such a high level. They forget that he is no longer on the team and was not replaced with a player at such a high level.
What are you talking about? Stanford has been great before McCaffery.

Let me know if I need to explain this particular "year".
For the sake of brevity, let's say 1978 - 2005
Nope, that doesn't work, either.
2003: 9-4
2004: 8-4
2005: 7-5
Just admit it. You made an assumption that was totally off base, and without fact.
And even in the 22 year stretch from 1978-2002, 5 of those years were .500 or better, so now we're talking about 19 years that weren't average or better.
That's a far cry from 93 years, lol.
Oh, and how was UCF's FBS record during that same 100 year period? Oh wait, UCF didn't start playing FBS football until 1996. LOL.

Yeah lol. We'd totally trade places with Memphis.* admit what Memphis is generally terrible, yes I admit it. If I cherry facts I can make anything look good. West Pointers aren't this nostalgic and in denial about their program and they've won national championships.

Leather helmet days?
2 bowls prior to DeAngelo Williams. One wasn't sanctioned by the NCAA.
1) Leather helmet days? Not quite...
2) Aaaaaannnnd this is EXACTLY why I posted this year in particular. Really look at that year again. That was an Undefeated year in which we tied the #2 ranked team in the country. But we didn't go to bowl. Why? Because we were an independent. We finished the year ranked #14. There were several more years we would have been to bowls besides this one, had we been in a conference.
As proof, the only bowl we went to prior to coach West (which was the real reason) that was, as you put it, NCAA sanctioned was the Pasadena Bowl. Why did we go to that bowl? Because we joined the MVC for like 4 or 5 years, and won it in '72. Had we not joined the MVC, we would still have not gone to a bowl until West.
Bottom line: Saying we "didn't go to bowls" was not an indicator of our quality before joining CUSA.

I had a PL that went there he smoked out of a pipe, and thought he walked on water hence the hyperbole.

I'm not going to take intellectual slights from an alumnus from a school that issues diplomas that double as zig zags.

Okay, so you were in fact incorporating the idea that West Pointers ARE overly nostalgic for the glories of yesteryear AND in denial about present realities.
