It's time to stop playing Rice
It's just that time. I don't see how the relationship benefits UH. It's like UConn playing Yale or Fairfield.

Interesting choice of analogy. On a related note...

Maybe UCONN should schedule Rice. We may actually be competitive against them.

If UConn, ECU, and Cincy played a round robin football tourney would any team win a game?

Local opponent. Mostly easy win. One of the best crowds of the season. Yeah, let's stop playing them. Daft?

Every once in a while but not routinely. Does Pitt regularly schedule Duquesne?

that game always sells more than average UH games..

nd and navy is also one sided, there is more to rivalries than competitiveness

RE: It's time to stop playing Rice
I get that this is a rivalry game and there is some meaning to it. However and Houston is still on the climb, Rice is headed the wrong way and will continue to do so. I agree maybe play this game every 4 years, not every year or even every other year.

Rice might want to consider going to 1-AA!!!

Just a thought!!!

This is actual truth. This game is a no-brainer.

Rice draws? I saw about 1000 Rice fans scattered about. For being within 5 miles as the crow flies they bring nobody. How about if they just brought their usual 5000 home game fans...is that too much to ask?

no WE draw for rice

look at any given year when we regularly played rice, we are on average 4/5k better than the average game

who cares if rice brings anyone...

Rice should go all in or not at all. That one D-III conference would work well for them as would the Pioneer League. I just don't get their motivations, there's no reason they can't be another Stanford or Northwestern or in turn a Georgetown, Chicago or NYU.
