Game Atmosphere
As the season as gone the whole Gameday production has gone downhill ——
Examples he couple of games—-
1) no having trash cans in the tailgate lots
2) Not having Paper towels or Trash cans in the bathrooms at the beginning of games
3) Running out of simple food items at concessions- ( hot dogs)
4) Introduction - just plan sucks
5) The band playing while we are on Offense- playing right up till the snap most times - Why?
6) Band playing while announcement or ref calls on PA-
Never mind because we can’t understand them anyway.

Our Gameday production - screams Low level. There is nothing about it that says we are an FBS school. -

On another item -
What happened to the 12th Monarch Flag we had?

Losing exacerbates everything. Not that I'm saying these issues aren't there, I'm saying that winning no longer disguises them. I feel like it's always been this way for most of these, but when you win it doesn't quite matter as much

Maybe they should take the $50k they pay for Wilders bodyguards and hire a game day coordinator. Does Wilder real need two law enforcement officers to protect/ babysit him at home game's?

One thing that always gets me is when the band plays in front of the web the crowd never gets into it and just watches. It's very weird and I hope one day people figure it out.

I noticed the band director standing on his platform, back to the filed with ear phones on. He was completely oblivious to what was going on PA wise and game wise. It seems the whole production has deteriorated. Sad.

I have to agree with all of this. I know that some of you have sources high on the food chain. Any chance they're looking at an entire revamp of the gameday experience with the opening of the new stadium next year? If they aren't, how do I get that job?

Is most of the audio/video stuff still being run by the control room over at the Ted?

Huge part of the issue and I believe yes it is.

Is the assumption that will change once the new stadium is built?

In the renderings from the Popolus study I swear I saw a control room in the plans. That seems like something very important to keep in whatever version of the plans we are on now.

Jack Ankerson has to go. His voice is an energy killer. Nothing personal against him but he is not helping the game atmosphere

Yeah, I agree. Jack and Eli Manning are on the same trajectory.

Just don't bring in a Bobby Hollywood. Jack isn't inspiring but really don't want to go too far in the other direction

RE: Game Atmosphere
TA should do PA. Ripley play by play, maybe Craig Wilkins or someone with a half decent voice and command of the game to replace Mashaw

Not TA either. He gets way too excited for the other team. Then has some corny remark that comes off as he is laughing or making fun of ODU. I hate it. Mashaw is OK but doesn’t do anything for me

I don't get the Andy Mashaw criticism. I think he does a good job, and sounds exactly like what I would expect a college football analyst to sound like. Ted is uber annoying and it is a shame, because aside from the RIDICULOUS cutesy stuff and not figuring out the right tone for a big play from the other team, he actually does a pretty good job calling the game. Listen to some of our peers' radio broadcasts. They sound terrible compared to ours.

RE: Game Atmosphere
I remember my time as a cheerleader and the flagbearer (I carried the "D" flag in "ODU" to lead the team out of the tunnel) There was some sort of cohesion and schedule for the team's entrance, down to the second where we were supposed to run out. There was a coordinator in the tunnel that gave all the direction (who wore a headset and was being fed direction from wherever). We had the intro video, then crazy train played a bit until the drop and then we ran out. Now I feel like the moment the team comes out of the locker room they run out on the field, doesn't matter if Ozzy is done laughing at the beginning of the song or not. There's a reason certain songs are picked, with the intro of the songs supposed to pump the crowd up before the team runs out (ie VT and Enter Sandman) and for some reason we've lost that along the way.

I remember going to plenty away games as a cheerleader and talking to my coach about the professionalism of each stadium's in-game production and how they were severely lacking compared to ours (this was in the CAA days). We had everything tight from the announcements to our first down announcements (we've discussed first downs ad nauseam on this board) to the entrance to music/band coordination and a lot of other things... Did some sort of leadership change since 2012? Did they change the program or just get lazy with it? I've complained about music playing between every play pretty much after every game this year, and it gets more annoying each time. I still don't understand why the band plays the Victory fight song after every offensive first down and on some defensive plays. To me it kinds of kills it's impact when we hear it on touchdowns as it should be a rallying song for all Monarch fans. It just feels so different from how tight everything was a couple of years ago.

There was a great showing this past weekend for a team that was 2-6, probably due to homecoming, but a combination of the product on the field and the in-game production didn't give us much to work with. And it can't be from lack of interest as most people around me were very into the game.

I hope next year the new stadium sparks some sort of change because it just seems very sloppy and unprofessional, especially considering how great it was the first half (and then some) of our existence.
