All-time record ranking (winning %)
The all-time winning % for FBS football programs, includes FCS periods. In another thread, a UTEP fan posted a link to UTEP FB history, which was not impressive. Got me thinking about other's history. Figured I'd just post the rankings. These by no means discredit the young programs, because it is hard to jump in and just win. Also, doesn't indicate how good you are now because a lot of the wins could have came 20 years ago. ODU indicates they are/will be good, for such a young program to come in and do well and continue to improve. USM fans always talk about history, but there are some other programs that have a rich history and done very well. WKU, MTSU, and LaTech jump out. I was surprised to see Marshall not in top 50, but maybe they turned it ON in last 20 years. I also thought UAB had played more years than what they have.

#21 - ODU [111-66-4]
#32 - WKU [566-385-31]
#40 - USM [581-416-27]
#46 - MTSU [565-419-28]
#48 - LaTech [603-453-37]
#78 - Marshall [576-537-47]
#88 - UNT [499-498-33]
#113 - Rice [470-596-32]
#115 - UAB [119-154-2]
#122 - UTEP [394-577-28]
#124 - FAU [76-118-0]
#126 - FIU [57-123-0]
#126 - UTSA [33-39-0]
#126 - UNCC [16-32-0]

Marshall goes in spurts. We had a 20 year span of losing (including crash aftermath), followed by 20 years of winning, followed by 5 losing, 5 winning (ish) and hopefully only one bad year streak as of right now. So over the last 50 years or so it's been winning and losing streaks rather than 4 year cycles like many schools.

FYI this is ODUs all time record including the seasons in the 30s. Interestingly enough this weeks game is our 100th since the resurrection in 2009. In the modern era of ODU football we've won 69 of 99 games.

Cool, however would be better if it were the Umass game to get that W.

3 nattys. 72, 73 and 74. 35 -2 record during that time with Maxie Lambright as the Head Coach. Fellow Southern Miss. coach and player. A lot of NFL players on those teams. Roger Carr, Pat Tilley, Roland Harper, and Hall of Famer Fred Dean. Fred Dean had his number retired during the Northwestern St. game. Many of the former players during that time were there.

We have a 19-loss lead on UTEP for most losses in the conference. Any prediction on what year UTEP passes us for most overall losses?

One of those losses was to-----Southern Miss, of course.

USM had 2 "small college" national championships in the early 60's....but, by in large, we weren't playing directional schools only! 04-cheers

(and love me some Maxie Lambright....wish he had followed Pie Vann instead of PW, who shoulda remained the BEST defensive coordinator in the country)

One of those came vs Western in 1973. I remember as a 13 year old thinking Western had it won after beating Grambling State.

WKU vs Louisiana Tech in the Camellia Bowl

I was just as crazy of a Western fan back then. We would watched the games through the fence and get in at halftime but only if the game wasn't sold out. Western sold out games back then.

If we wanted to get to see the game from the stands we would do one of two things. Pool our money together getting one ticket (4 of us) dropping it back down to one of us till we all got in. Or if we did not have the money we would spiderman a cutout in the wall of the stadium. I'm taking about a 20 ft wall if not higher. We would put our butt/back on one side legs the other pushing our self up the wall. Or foot on each side walking up the wall. Skinned the crap out of my legs once. When we got up to the top we sometimes had to wait right there till it was clear.

Looking back it was really dangerous because there was a concert pad below us but there wasn't much we wouldn't do to get in to see Western play. Same in basketball we would get up to Diddle 4 hours before the game jumping on huge mats, like 4ft high and 10*10. We would hide between them till the doors open. Sometime a couple hours

ODU: Impressive!
UTEP: As much as I hate it, and damn do I hate it, I see the point of the USM richards. That is a long time to be playing really bad football at the 1-A/FBS level. I'll grant the benefit of the doubt that UTEP was (is?) a basketball school.

We still need to beat a P5. If our O-Line shows up today, we have a chance.

While I do think ODU has gotten off easy with its SOS over the years, you guys are still getting W's and for the casual fan, they see the results, not the competition.

That first P5 victory will feel sweet for sure.
