Maybe, maybe not. I'll reserve judgement. No other sources are reporting that development. And the next post on robocoach has a guy suggesting Mickey Dean is leaving JMU, and that's definitely not true.

That's stinky. National signing date is when? Maybe she can be flipped again.

If nothing else, that site is very interesting reading. Lots of people claiming to be "in the know"....so what else is new.

Yep. A real loss for JMU. Hopefully the next HC sees what MD was able to accomplish at JMU, and our program will continue to flourish.

Reading the Robocoach rumor mill again was interesting. The debate was whether or not Mickey would take the Auburn job, and apparently it had some merit. Related posts suggest JMU might want to take a look at Longwood's current coach Riley as a replacement. Hope we get a good one, whoever it is. Super regional sure was fun with MD.

Yep, I remember reading that article. Apparently, some of those people were in the know and had connected the dots much earlier. I'll bookmark it to see who's on our radar for head coach.

Kathy Riley is an awesome coach, we would be lucky to have her. Mickey worked for her at Longwood for a season or two.

Years ago, I'm watching my daughter's future high school team play.
I see Kathy Riley watching one of the players. She says this potential recruit is a great slapper but wants to see if she has some power. Slappers with power can keep the defense honest. This player does not show any power in her first few AB's. Kathy says she must leave to prepare for Liberty the next day.
An inning later, slapper cranks a HR.
Player went on to play at Roanoke. She did receive offers including Radford and Mickey, but chose D3.

While the article says that the assistant is promoted to interim head coach, the quotes make it seem like the job is hers.

Yep. She should win 50+ games in her first year as the Dukes are absolutely LOADED in the circle with Good and a more-experienced Alexander.

She's all about hitting with power, I believe sometimes to her recruiting detriment. But I suspect the job goes to LaPorte anyway, so Riley would be a moot point. Loren was the liaison to alumni softball players, and she was a primary recruiter for several girls on the roster. Of the girls I know on that roster, none had anything negative to say about her.

My question with any new coach is: do they have the ability to recruit and develop future pitching stars?
MD's success has largely come from the ability to have 1 or 2 superstar level pitchers. If that can be continued, the future looks bright. If not, we could decline after the current players graduate.

Losing the Sandercock commitment didn't help, last year's class saw 2 top pitchers go to VT (they faced each other in the conference 3 final, played together on the Starz travel team) and another go to Duke.
Off the final roster from last year they lost Behan, Tremaine, Helmick, Brammer, Walton + Wilson mid-year. Some of them transferred, Wilson to Duke and Tremaine somewhere else. Not sure about the others, but Behan and Brammer were at least part time starters. Many of those young ladies are VA talent, without question we need to at least dominate our own state for recruiting. Despite getting some solid players from the Bandits and Mustangs organizations, our all american pitchers were both from VA. What's left was very successful in VA as well.
