I can't even go to the 1st page of this thread because of some kind of warning, so I can't see the choices to vote on. Appropos of nothing, I really liked the white matte helmet with the big fleur de lis outline on it from last year or some other time, can't quite remember.

We use to have these but we decided to go more traditional, but this is what the helmets would look like with the fleur de lis. Which I don't like the black, and don't care for these helmets.

In my opinion those are your best helmets and would make you tops in the sun belt from a branding perspective.

However, what Louisiana wears now is really bad.

Then there was talk of the tri Fleur de lis I was trying to find a picture of it, but this will do! If we were going to go the Fleur de lis route I say we go with the tri Fleur de lis.

Even though the symbol represents French culture, and colonialism, I personally think that they use it correctly as a University symbol and as a sports symbol. Personally I believe this university prides itself on being unique, and so doesn't want people to think we are copying a pro team.

Some would think so, but since it's been part of the university since 1898 I think we can say we're OK with its use. I guess it's kind of like our stadium being called the swamp, which Steve Spurrier liked a lot and adopted for Florida's stadium.

Yep, just like Geaux Cajuns, and now LSU has adopted it and now uses Geaux Tigers.

Ran this old photo down of the tri-fleur helmet.

Understand it's been a part of the university for a long time, but the single large fleur-de-lis just seems like a Saints gig since its all they've used since '67.

I never think that when I see fleur-di-lis helmets. Perhaps y'all are worrying about it too much.

I can see how you see it that way not being from this part of the country, but it's been part of the Acadiana branding long before there was a Saints team in NOLA. We should have renamed the university University of Acadiana back in the 80's, but a local high school beat us to the punch and I believe that kept this idea from happening.

In the end though we own the Louisiana name I think we thought long-term and paid off for the better? I love the ULM fans and school but we did what we needed to do and we will keep on striving for the name .

But I don't see it here. I recall a white helmet with a gold logo.
