Dear Friends,
With the recent argument with some people from Central Michigan, I want to apologize to any on this board if you were offended, felt I was out of line, or just felt it wasn't worth going over again.
I also appreciated the support I received from some of you, (although I did not expect any because it was my position, not necessarily yours) since I know some share my position. I get very emotional about Eastern, and have always defended my alma mater, especially when I feel it has been wronged.
I hope you will continue to consider me being a friend of this blog, and if you feel i am ever out of line, please let me know.

Ken, you are great. By the way, I used to read Larry Middlemas and Joe Falls when I was a kid. Middlemas kept me updated on all things MAC...you have a unique perspective that most people here simply haven't experienced. I enjoy reading your thoughts, even if I sometimes disagree. Keep it up.

RE: Musings
Hi Ken,

I love your passion and support you provide EMU!!!!

I use this board for fun and really don't take anyone too seriously. However, I have used this forum to voice my position on certain matters (especially Basketball). Sometimes when I reflect on my posts, I ask myself is what I've written, the legacy I want to leave behind? I try to take the high road most times but I'm certain I fall short quite often as most of you know. The internet can be a tool to promote good will, inspire others, or to propogate positive news, but it can also be used for the very opposite. The internet and this forum have given all of us the ability to spread our messages and/or to add to conversations positively, neutrally or negatively. At the end of the day, if we take the high road, we'll reflect back and feel good inside with ourselves.

Keep up the passion and support!!

Thanks Ken, there's alot of history with some of the WMU guys like Chipdip who get way out of line about their comments about EMU. CMU isn't much better but they don't have an active board on this site. We try to "correct" them when they are inaccurate. The real facts are EMU is improving in alot of areas.

Great article EMU79!

I expect enrollment to increase next year since our Football team should provide us with more National exposure. We saw the same rise after our Basketball success in the 90s!

I was told that the we have a big frosh class this year. I can look up the details (it is in email I received from out of Ypsi). Remember, we might be talking an increase of say 10%, not 50%. Need to remember these things are incremental, enrollment will be up (or down) 5 or 10%. Rare to see something big like 25%

Not sure how much FB has to do with it. We had a good season, but remember it was WMU, not EMU, which went to the Cotton Bowl. WMU should reap the benefits.

I have no problems with the Chips except 3 days a year (i.e, FB and MBB twice).

I would not scratch someone off my Christmas Card list because they went to CMU. 03-lmfao

Steve, I heard an interview with Brad Stevens while at Butler that their admission applications increased to a magnitude of 4x after their finals run. In general, Sports certainly plays a role in the perception of a school and impacts student enrollment.

Yes, but that probably isn't a good example as EMU's bump most likely was fairly small.

Going to the Bahamas isn't like the playoffs.

Nice publicity yes, but it might only register with those who both like football and were interested in EMU.

Now, if you want to talk about the Sweet 16 year or the '96 NCAAs then we are talking about something which is on the Richter scale.

I do remember when George Mason went to the Final Four and they got their bump. That was similar to what Butler experienced.

In my younger day I was married to a Chip.

In those days, that young lady gave me her brother's UofM shirt to wear...

(now I'm getting in deep. Married to a Chip and wearing a UofM shirt. 03-lmfao).

BTW, I think most men would not eliminate a young lady because she went to the 'wrong' school. 03-idea I'll let UofM and OSU students and fans weigh in.

Now if she voted for the wrong presidential candidate, that's a 'bridge too far.' Lol.

RE: Musings
I know this was pursuant to the "debate" between Ken, myself, and Chippit. I come onto MAC BBS because we use ChippewasInsider for CMU sports, and I get to see what other fans are saying on here. Along with looking at scouting reports, injuries, overall MAC discussion, etc. I have nothing against any fanbase really, aside from UofM because I find them extremely irrational and unfair. I don't even hate WMU, it's a fun rivalry but I root for WMU in OOC games because I like to see the MAC do well. Just my personal outlook.

Onto the matter at hand, the only think that bothered me was it appears there is no evidence of what you said. We have found numerous articles stating what actually happened. You said you searched a library and found some article that stated what you said. I can't call you a liar because I wasn't there, but no one has found any info backing what you are saying. Maybe it does exist, but that is doubtful because there is no evidence of it online. You are allowed to hate CMU or any other school for that matter, I just ask you provide a legit source (link) for us to see as to your evidence of hating CMU. I think you may have remembered the facts incorrectly seeing as CMU abstained from voting to kick EMU out. That's all. Once again, I will take back everything I said if you or anyone else can provide me a source.

If someone will give me a statement which I can verify or debunk, I'll check. I have a good source was a key person at EMU during that time and would be an excellent source to tap.
