Dropped DirecTV at $150/mth and picked up PS Vue for $35/mth.

I cut the cord, reattached the cord and cut the cord again.

Both have their pros and cons.

We've not had cable for a decade. We spend on Netflix and then Hulu when shows are running.

After each bill I pay I swear to myself I'm cutting the cord.

If you're paying $150 for DTV, you're doing it wrong. Call in and threaten to cancel, and they'll cut it in half, and give you all the movie channels and NFL Sunday Ticket for free.

With that said, I'm close to cutting, though it isn't about the cost, but more about the principle of giving money to media outlets that I despise. You can stream pretty much anything you want these days anyway.

HULU TV 40$ EVERY MOUTH

Had Sling the Playstation vue now Hulu.
Need Hulu for SEC and Big Ten networks best sports mix also wife watches GH on Hulu.
I liked Playstation Vue's set up but upgrading and paying extra for B1G network made Hulu better.
Add Pluto because it is free especially if you pull for a Big Sky school or a conference on Stadium.
Four BSC games were on at once on Pluto Saturday. Looks like every home game if the school want to stream it.

i think hulu is the best and ps vue is too slow for me and set on amazon fire stick is way to slow.

I had 5 HD DVR receivers. I had the package just above their lower tier.

With PS Vue I get 5 profiles. It has a streaming equivalent of DVR. Not actually recording anything. It gets added to My Shows. No limit on how many simultaneous "recordings".

Oh, and when I called to cancel DirecTV they asked if they could make it worth my while to stay.

I told the agent if they could match or beat $35 / month I'd listen.

He laughed and said they couldn't.

Exactly!

I been waiting for the buffet plans where you pick the channels you want.

Many of the vile channels/networks relied on captive money. They didn't have to market their products to viewers.

youtube tv has the best sports package. I don't have it but thats what I've read.

I haven't had any streaming issues.

I liked the channel line-up on PSV moreso than Sling.

The 2nd tier of PSV includes all the ESPN sports channels.

The only thing missing is some chick-flick movie channel my wife & daughter like -- Lifetime Movies. I think that's it.

$3.99/mth or $39.99/yr (which breaks down to $3.33/mth).

That's about what I would expect to pay for a channel.
They have a standalone subscription for iOS, Android, Apple TV & Roku, but no Fire TV yet.

We have Roku and Fire devices.


CBS All Access is $5.99/mth with commercials and $9.99/mth with limited commercials. Live TV includes commercials, streaming after the fact doesn't.

Frankly there's not much on CBS worth watching. My OTA setup gets the local CBS feed. I like their OTA companion channel Antenna TV.


Plus, there are devices that let you record OTA TV on a hard drive.

I bought a Mediasonic HW-150PVR box. Your antenna signal runs in to it and HDMI out to your TV. Hook up a hard drive via USB.

Or you can run the antenna coax to a 2-way splitter. Run one coax to the ANT-IN on your TV and the other to the Mediasonic box. That config lets you watch on one channel while you record on another.

I cut the cord, then re-corded.

It's just easier to flip through cable channels and I can afford it. In fact, I just added another package to get all the sport channels.

The channels I like are so random that it's too time consuming to figure out which service offers what. In the end, I just stick with what I have. Not the smartest financial move but it is what it is.

Which channels do you like? I also loaded to youtube app to Roku, amazing how much programming is in youtube for free.

Dropped Dish, we tried an antenna but trees blocked it, have a low tier cable service, Netflix,Amazon and Hulu.

I have the PC software but they also have a cloud version.

It turns your PC into a multimedia server and an SVR (streaming video recorder).

You can set up all your TV apps (PS Vue, Sling, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Tubi, Pluto, etc) in the software.

It logs in to your streaming service using your credentials. As you stream a show/movie it records the stream on your local drive. It is then available for playback whenever you want. Your different devices (roku, fire, etc) can stream from your PC.
