Moore Looking Forward to Louisville Visit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeff Wafford

Bobby Petrino's brief flirtation with LSU doesn't seem to have slowed down Louisville football recruiting a bit. This weekend is shaping up to include some star-studded visitors, and none will be bigger than four-star defensive lineman Kyle Moore, a 6-foot-6, 247-pounder who is listed as the No. 2 strongside defensive end in the nation. Cardinalsports.com talked with Moore about his upcoming visit to the Derby City.

At 6-6, 247 pounds, Moore is rated as the No. 2 strongside def. end in the country.

The highly-rated Moore is a very athletic defensive end who runs a 4.73 forty-yard dash. He is also one of the most sought-after defensive recruits in the country, and holds 38 scholarship offers. He has already made visits to Southern California, Oklahoma and Tennessee, and he will spend his last two visits on Miami and Louisville.

While it may appear that the Cardinals have appeared somewhat late in the action, Moore said he has been in contact with them for some time, and Cardinal coaches made a visit to his school in early December. "I have been interested in Louisville for quite some time, and I thought it would be worth going up there to check them out," he said. "I planned to visit a while ago, and I wasn't sure if I was going to take it there, but I decided to anyway."

Moore said there is a lot to like about Coach Petrino's program. "It's an awesome chance to go and play a lot of defense," he said. "They're a high-scoring offense, and their defense just has to be good enough to win games."

Defensive line may be a chink in the Cardinals' armor going into next season, and Moore would be an immediate contributor up front. "They said I had an opportunity to come in and play right away," he said. "That would be fine with me."

Moore said he has narrowed it down to USC, Oklahoma, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee and Louisville, and admits: "I don't have a leader." He said he would make an announcement on signing day. He mentioned distance from home wouldn't be a factor, but that being comfortable with his surroundings was extrememly important.

"(It will come down to) pretty much how I feel about the coaches and the players that are going to be around me," he said, adding that the places he has visited so far have been very impressive.

As for Louisville, he said he's excited to see what they have to offer. "I've never been to Kentucky. I mean, I've been through it, but never been there and stayed," he said. "I just want to check out the school and see how things are up there." Moore was slated to visit Michigan this weekend, but canceled that visit to check out Cardinal country.
