"Who Can The UA Attract That Is Better?"
That is a direct quote from Wally Hall this morning concerning a possible replacement for Bret Bielema as football coach in Fayetteville. As I recall, he has made similar statements in the past when a program in this State is considering a change.
Now I don't have a dog in this particular hunt, but it seems like another short sighted statement from the Sports Editor. It's like he believes that the pool of qualified coaches is a very finite quantity that is limited by his own personal knowledge of the candidates. Give me a break! No one had ever heard of Chris Beard when Chasse Conque selected him to replace Steve Shields at Little Rock. All Beard did was to immediately lead the Trojans to the program's best year ever!
I don't know if Long will make a change at the end of the year or not, but given what he would have to offer to any replacement, qualified candidates would be in abundant supply!

First they have to pay off his 15.4 million dollar buyout. Not sure, but I think this goes down somewhat after Dec. 31st. Still I doubt Bulemia is going anywhere for a while- although when Wally starts backstabbing something is usually going on behind the scenes.

Not sure the question is "who are they going to get that is better", but who could meet the unrealistic expectations of UAF fans. UAF is, at best, a middle of the road SEC program. After more than 25 years they have never won an SEC title in football. There will be occasional ups and downs, but the reality is they will never be a dominant program in the SEC.
