Cord cutting may be accelerating
Comcast just took a hit. Charter lost ground as well.

Quote:Media and pay-TV stocks shuddered last Thursday when Comcast Corp. executive Matt Strauss told analysts at a California investor conference that the nation’s largest cable-TV company would lose 100,000 to 150,000 TV subscribers this quarter, broadly missing analysts projections that Comcast would add 9,000 customers.

Strauss blamed TV subscriber losses to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which battered big Comcast markets, and sharper competition from AT&T and Verizon Communications.

But analysts saw cord-cutting and on-demand streamers — Goolgle-owned YouTube TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime — as an additional big culprit taking a shark bite out of Comcast’s core TV subscriber business.

Investors punished the company’s stock price as Comcast has shed $16 billion in market capitalization as its shares fell over the last three days, including on Monday when the broad stock market soared.

This is the thing about all of this cord cutting that doesn't make any sense to me when I hear folks reveling in the demise of cable TV. If everyone switches over to internet or wireless delivery, do they really think that the providers aren't to increase their rates to account for the massive growth in data they will now have to move? IMO, it will be the justification that leads to Net Neutrality's downfall.

I hate the quality of streaming services and the reliability is less than desireable

Loss of net neutrality will cause customers to jump on alternative providers. Either wireless or hopefully fiber optic

But creating that infrastructure to handle the data is going to cost huge jack. Not to mention paying for all of the abandoned cable that still has to be paid for.

The next wave in business capitalism will be providing high speed services for internet and streaming. Cables' bandwidths can still be used and optimized for slower data rate applications. High speed networks need the new infrastructure. 4K TV has stalled due to this.

I agree with this which is why I think you are going to see ISP's do something to bifurcate their offerings. It just clashes with Net Neutrality in a way that most cord cutters just aren't comprehending.
