Distance from Statesboro:
NCST - 339 miles
GT - 207 miles
UGA - 80 miles
GT - 207 miles
Auburn - 240 miles

This must be nice!

Out of curiosity I looked at the distance to our p5 games since we moved up.

TX Tech - 389 miles
Illinois - 1,064
FSU - 868
Arkansas - 537
Colorado - 1,014

We have taken thousands to closer teams like Houston and SMU. At least we have Baylor and A&M coming up.
Last time we played Baylor we had a huge crowd there. I missed SMU as I was out of the country.
The last time we played A&M they changed the day due to hurricane Rita and were told to stay away, so it screwed a lot of TXST fans plans.

Yup. I went to the two games at Baylor, two of three at Houston, and missed SMU and A&M. Hopefully, my schedule works out for the upcoming SMU and A&M games. My friend has season tickets at A&M so I will probably go for free but won't be sitting in the TXST crowd. I will have to cheer on my own.

I was going to go to A&M but because of the move, to Thursday, I couldn't; as I had to work. Adele & I went to ACL Fest that weekend instead.
Got hardly any rain in College Station and Austin was hot as Hades.

I was a junior at TXST and considered going. The date change and them putting it on TV ruined that as it was easier and cheaper to just watch from my apartment with friends. Colorado was my first big trip since they moved to FBS. It helps I have my old college roommate in Denver to crash with.

On what planet is UGA only 80 miles from GS.....Augusta, GA is just under 80 miles from GS.........try around 170-175 miles between Athens and Statesboro.

RE: Fan base traveling?
Look at how many GS people showed up at UAB for a last minute change to watch that disaster. We travel well, especially for P5 games. NCST had twice are allotment show up, Ole Miss fans and A.D. were so impressed they quickly signed us up for another game. Even back in the FCS days we brought quite a few to the western games against Oregon St and CSU. GT and UGA is always a huge GS crowd.

For conference games it really depends on how well the team is doing and how well the opponent is doing too. I would say that for the East Div teams we will bring arond 1000+/- (GSU games can have over 10K), the Western Div games will probably only have 200-400 fans show up.

I don't know how this stacks up to other members, but I think it is in the top 3. But that's just my opinion.

04-cheers

RE: Fan base traveling?
Most away fans that I've talked to at TXST games were alumni who are living and working in Texas. Which makes sense, we're right in the middle of 4 of the 12 largest cities in the US (all of which are growing very fast).

Withers said on his radio show last night that this week is the first time that App State has ever played a football game in Texas. I imagine any decent App State alum living in DFW, Houston, Austin, SA, or anywhere in between will be there.
