Not convinced yet. Liberty looked a bit better against a poor Baylor team. Only thing concerns me about UTSA is obvious pick plays allowed to be run right in front of incompetent CUSA referees.

Looked better offensively perhaps, yes. But Baylor got about 3 starters back on their defense for us, who were injured for Liberty. If not for the muffed punt which set Baylor up in our red zone, Baylor likely doesn't even score a single touchdown against us.

And without intending to sound like a homer, I think we were in the more difficult situation, given Baylor's surprise loss to Liberty in week one. Shocking a P5 in a home opener is one thing, but someone else coming in and making them lose a 2nd straight game at home to open their season is a bit more tricky, especially after they get some injured starters back, have had a chance to make some adjustments, and the other team hasn't even played yet.

Yeah, UTSA had last week's game film to go by, while Baylor had nothing of ours from last week. But Baylor has new coach, giving UTSA one game to look at, unless we go back to Temple game films, which won't necessarily be on par with what he's doing at Baylor. Baylor had all of last season to look at for us, since we have the same staff and most of our starters haven't changed either.

So with all due respect, if the only thing about UTSA that concerns you is alleged pick plays, remind me again of what our score was when we met last year. Look, I've said to others that we shouldn't get too excited over this win right now because it's one game, and there are still unanswered questions. But if you have no concerns aside from officials, you're either naive or just have a penchant for reckless statements.

Reckless statements. Ha. You forget we know Frank Wilson. He coached here. And at Ole Miss for several years. Always was known as the bag man.
The two pick plays I refer to were in our game against y'all last year in which you won. Go back and look. Very poorly disguised and in press coverage. But executed nonetheless right in front of the knucklehead CUSA refs. Two went for long TDs and another was inside the red zone. Good for y'all and shame on our coaches for not raising hell about it.

Why do you always have to blame someone else for losing? If it's not those dirty SEC officials. It's the knucklehead CUSA refs. Miss calls are part of sports but they go both ways. 90% of the time what fans see as missed calls...

are just excuses because you got your ass beat.

Hell sometimes a team is just better than your team on that day. What would S. Miss winning % be if not for Dirty, knucklehead refs? Let me guess 30% better and 20 more conference championships and a 90% winning percentage against the SEC.

Congratulations for keeping your post somewhat south of War and Peace.
Don't have to explain anything to Noobies that have not played Alabama for sixty years.

Let me let you in on a secret...just because you take a check from a school for all those years. Don't mean you are better. It just means S. Miss needed the check. A game Bama looked at as another easy win...30-9 avg score in the last 30 losses

S. Miss 3 wins

Bama 3-8 loss 7 out of last nine including S. Miss
Bama 7-5 loss 3 in a row including S. Miss
Bama 8-4 loss 3 in a row including S. Miss

It's not like you beat the team we saw over the last 10 years that won 12 or more games all but 1 year...10 then

Why are you so proud to be the pay check game and on the end of a beat down 30 out of the last 33 games?

For me, it's still way too early to tell. The biggest question is... which team(s) will make the most improvement over the next 2 to 4 weeks?

Like I said I do not HAVE to explain it to you but I will. Any program that will pay $50,000 for Albert Means will no doubt give a couple 1,000 to the officials to 'keep it fair'. And the officials are always SEC. Was way worse before the TV for every game era. It continued during the early years of ESPN. The announcers would often have a 'WTF was that moment'. Now that ESPN owns the SEC they keep their mouth shut.
I know you don't understand it because you're a Noobie and don't have the experience we have at living in that world. Watch and get an education and this is in conference. It was just easy to find.

What was that 10-12 years ago FW was in Mississippi & only for like 2 years? I'm guessing a lot has changed.

No, I get what this is all about now. I admit the Baylor team we beat isn't the Baylor of years past, so you're downplaying the win as much as possible. But we beat you guys much worse last year than we did Baylor, and with a lesser team, so we've been living rent-free in your heads ever since.

It's real convenient to whine about officials when you lose, when as has been said, there are missed calls both ways in every game. There are guys like you in every fan base, including our own. Ironically, guys like you rarely, if ever, blame officials when your team wins, but when there's a loss, they're scapegoat #1, even if it's a 23-point beatdown.

If you worry a little less about our outcomes and a little more about your own games, you might feel a little better. If that doesn't work, try a blanket.

Rice > UTEP

And the rest is just details...

We got a half game lead and our magic number to clinch is now 6.

We'll have a better sense of who are the best teams after 4-5 games. I do think my Eagles can be a good team this season, even as young as they are. It does seem that CUSA doesn't have a flat out dominant team, like WKU has been last couple seasons.

Like i said, you won. I hope the calls even out this year. That a will make for some interesting conversations. We also lost to more crappy teams let year than just USTA so don't feel special. Crawling out of the hole we were in has been a long battle but we're getting there.
But to get to the point, you guys beat what looks to be a poor Baylor team. Good for y'all. That doesn't make you the front runner just yet. We lost to a mediocre Kentucky team after spotting them a half. Who's the front runner? We will have to wait and see,
