I assume your question is made tongue in cheek.

Only on JMU's board will you find second guessing after a 52-10 victory. 05-nono

ETSU gave up 193 yards on 46 carries for 4.1 YPC to LIMESTONE the prior week.

We gained 122 yards on 39 for 3.1 YPC.

Did you watch their limestone game to see if they had 8-9 in the box every play all game long? I doubt they did.

The Massey and Sagarin predictions had JMU as a 39 and 40 point favorite respectively. We won by 42 points. They were clearly very spot on.

We are 40 points better than ETSU. In reality if we needed we could of won by more.

I'm sure we were somewhat vanilla on offense.....

You lose this argument when you start comparing us to Limestone. And they never had nine in the box unless we had wideouts that were not even single covered or it was goaline/short yardage defense.

RE: Post Game ETSU Thoughts
Alright here we go

First play 7 players in the box - We get three
2nd play 7 players in the box - the seventh was a blitzer- we lose 3 yards
3rd play pass - 6 players in the box
4th play pass - 7 players in the box
5th play pass - 8 in the box
6th play - 8 in the box rush for 1
7th play - 6 in the box rush for no gain
8th play - 6 in the box run

Next series
we got the ball inside their 10 so goalline defense...

Next Series

8 in the box - 2 yards rushing
7 in box - pass
7 in the box - QB draw for 9 yards
7 in the box - pass
Can't tell from TV - but pass
Then inside 10 so goaline defense.

next series
8 in the box - pass
7 in the x - run for 6
7 in the box - pass
6 in the box - pass
7 in box - pass
6 in box - Schor runs fo no gain
7 in box - Schor rushes for no gain

Next series
7 in box - rush for minus 2 yards
7 in box - rush for 3
6 in the box - pass
6 in the box - 10 yard rush
7 in the box - pass
7 in the box - pass
6 in the box - pass
7 in the box - pass
Could not tell - but pass
6 in the box - pass
6 in the box - pass.

Getting boring, but where are all the 8 and 9s in the boxes?

Also if you crowd the line of scrimmage - that usually opens you up for long runs. We had none.....

Thanks - there was no doubt that the ETSU defense tackled well, and was very physical. Much better than what I was expecting.

RE: Post Game ETSU Thoughts
Reported attendance (should be called "Number of Tickets Sold [or accounted for]) is 24,722. By my birds eye view from the upper deck, I thought the students packed the place well and BFS was at least 95% full with bodies inside.

I don't think the Greek rush stuff had any effect whatsoever in total student attendance. The Upper Convo lot was jam packed with students. That's normal, but seemed like more than usual yesterday.

Hopefully, while I expect a drop in attendance as the 2nd home game often does, it would be great if we could get 20K+ into BFS this upcoming Saturday.

RE: Post Game ETSU Thoughts
Thoughts after the home opener:
-great turnout from the students and fans in general - was pretty loud at times early in the game
-Students very VERY loud with fight sing chants going thru Duke Dog Alley on the way to the game around 545- that was impressive
-We need to get rid of the thunder sticks; that ship has run its course, doesn't make much noise, and looks like something you would see at a high school game; using your voice is a much more effective way to support our team.
-Defense was outstanding; early on this looks to be the strongest unit we have
-Receivers looked great; Hyman made some nice catches away from his body and Stapleton seems to be coming into his own; Eldridge was a nice addition this offfseason
-Not much thrown to Carlton but expect that to change next week when Kloo returns
-Running game seemed uninspired in general; no holes to run thru and very few broken tackles (except Sharp when her got a few touches); will need more consistent play going forward from the run game
-Schor is smart enough to know he has no business taking as many hits as he did last night in that type of game; Can't believe coaching staff didn't pull him in Q3 to get his attention here (not to mention Cole needs some PT)
-Great to see some big returns in special teams and to see Gray have a clean night kicking

What I noticed was exactly as you state but at the snap a couple DB's would head straight for the line of scrimmage. Though not technically in the box, they sold out prior to the snap and left our passing game open for the taking. They mixed it up on who would commit trying to confuse our blockers and we didn't pursue the use the run game like we normally would since the passing was working well.

Good defense by the bucs. Few missed tackles when they pursued. Go tear up the socon so we can no longer wonder why we only rushed for 122 haha.

One question for you. How many points did Limestone and their mighty running attack score? 07-coffee3

You seem to (mistakenly) think that JMU can dictate all phases of a game. Opponents give scholarships too, and give praise where it's due. ETSU was well coached and their athletes on defense made a serious commitment to stopping (or slowing) JMU's running game, and they (statistically) did their job. ETSU still lost by an overwhelming margin. I'll take a stifled running attack if it means 52-10 victories all year long.

A little perspective is in order.

JMU TV is awesome. I rewatched the first half when I got home from the game. It's our mini Texas network. It appeared to me we were able to influence the presentation in favorable ways for JMU. Next to FBS, this might be the best opportunity to market JMU football. Would be very happy if this is more than one year. Great way for alumni to get to know and feel the program. Great for recruits.

Defense for the first three quarters was dominant and overwleming. What you would hope for in this game against a ETSU.

Special teams had a wonderful day. Almost had three returns for TDs. Whoever is coaching special teams is doing a great job.

Passing game is good, but the routes don't seem to be as crisp as last year. Where did Riley Stapleton come from? Who says white men can't jump? 03-lmfao I think Klu and Alls will provide a lot to the passing game.

It appears Houston is doing what I had hoped and not just giving away Cole Johnson's redshirt opportunity. I'm sure he won't hesitate to use Cole if needed like he did last year, but it appears Houston won't waste a year for mop up duties.

Love Brian maximizing his running skills, but he's taking too many uneeded hits especially in a game versus a low 1AA.

And an eye opener in yesterday's game - The o-line is not clearly where it needs be
or where I hoped it was after last week's game. There was no place for anyone to run. Against a team like ETSU - the eight in the box does not give me as much comfort. Also - I frequently counted 7 in the box on times I counted. We have a ways to go. I did see Liam in some on special teams. Would not surpise me if some of these young transfers don't start to get more time and could be starters by year end.

I think Marshall will soon be our best back. While it was hard to tell with no holes to run through I thought Marshall was more impactful last night than Johnson. I think he's going to be something special for us although we have 3 great backs.

Oh yeah - was great in the Club to finally able to take alcohol to your seats during the game. Not sure why this was not allowed in the past.

What do you mean by 'JMU TV'?

RE: Post Game ETSU Thoughts
Great turnout by the students.
Passing game was sharp, though I did see Ish and Eldridge both drop one. They both made some tough catches too, but I still believe Miller and Kloo will be the go-to guys when we need a crucial 3rd down conversion.
Thought we tackled very well too.

About the only thing that puzzled me was how long Coach leaves in the starters. Wholesale substitutions didn't come till halfway through the 4th. Prior to that, it was the normal rotational subbing.
