Dear Frank,
Thanks for posting, and interesting to read about Eastern sounding good, from the Athens Post. Let's hope we can cause problems for Ohio's defense.

RE: Ohio Game
How much is it to get into the game this year? I'm not sure I'll make it due to bday plans but if I can I'm gonna go.

$25 at the gate. There were a lot of free tix floating around this week so you might be able to find someone with extras.

RE: Ohio Game
I was in Michigan Saturday and Sunday and managed to see EMU loses in 2 OTs and Lions on the last play.
That is what sports is all about. Great wins. Painful losses.
I guess if someone wants something without the emotional ups and downs of sports can read a book on art history (sorry if we have any art lovers here).

RE: Ohio Game
Ok my last comments on this game and then time for me to get over it.
First off, ETough warned us of our offensive line woes during this past preseason. Unfortunately he is right or it's Keen's system or a combination of the two. Regardless I was very disappointed in the way our offense is playing especially after a bye week. Our offensive line is absolutely getting no push. If we can not run the ball, we will become one dimensional and have lesser succeess that what I anticipated this season. Right before halftime we had the ball on the 32 with about 30seconds to play. Then Roback throws a pick six. It was a very poor decision on his part!! However I was so disappointed in the coaches trying to move so quickly with little time that in my mind was an enabler for the pick. I hold them partially responsible for that pick. Our LT simply is very slow afoot and gets no push. Finally I saw Keene call some counter run plays that didn't work time and time again. If the O-Line doesn't get a push the counter plays will never work. The best we can do with a poor O-Line is to run a dive and hope for 3-4 yards. Not holding my breath on keen.
Regarding Special Teams, every time we do that rugby punt I get nervous. Ohio had it scouted perfectly and almost blocked a punt in the second half. Quit the cuteness and drop back and punt.
Finally on defense. I believe we may have the best defense in the conference. I do have one complaint. After we scored in the first OT to go up 20-13, we stuffed Ohio on their first play to give them 2nd and 9. Neathery calls a jailhouse break blitz and leaves our corner on an island with their wideout who draws a pass interference on a 50/50 ball. I thought that was a terrible decision by Neathery. I truly believed we had Ohio on their heels and they would have made a mistake forcing something and instead I feel Neathery made too big of a gamble. At any rate, Neathery had done an awesome job with the Defense!!

Dear Luckeyone,
Coach Creighton at his press conference said the interception for a touchdown was his call. He said he should have known better.

So Creighton told Roback to throw a pick 6? The kid is a 5th year Senior! Sure Creighton allowed him to run the play (20% at fault), but Roback still forced a very difficult cross field throw, into coverage, when he could have just as easily thrown it away (80% at fault).
It's not Creighton's job to protect a Sr QB, with supposed NFL talent, from himself.
Still pi**es me off just thinking how poorly the whole thing was handled.

Roback has regressed, back to some poor habits at times. Running game needs to improve somehow.

I'm not so sure that he has regressed so much as the OFFENSE has (regressed).
A very good running game makes a good QB look great.
But a mediocre running game can make a very good QB look more ordinary.
P.S. I consider Roback a very good QB.

Well we're are approaching the 1/2 way point and the defense so far is 4real and the offense is a WIP. Hustle Belt concludes the same thing I noticed vs Ohio in that maybe we should run dive plays vs counters to Improve run game.

RE: Ohio Game
Dear Friends,
Maybe my perspective of our run game was off, because from what I saw were halfback dives between the guard and tackle positions, not counter plays. Like I have said earlier, what about sweeps, screen passes, reverses, flea flickers? Other then the two pass play that almost got Eastern a touchdown, very predictable run game.
As far as the passing game, why no deep passes down the middle? What about any pass over the middle?

Who is Kenneth Bailey? I'm 99% sure from reading his 'analysis' that this guy never played a down of football, and it obvious he knows very, very little about the game, or our team.
"maybe they need to try running off tackle. I think Shaq Vann could be fast enough to do this." We tried to run off tackle all day. Shaq is not even close to 'fast', especially this year.
"EMU passing game seems okay though"......with the exception of that game losing pick 6, and way too many 50/50 backfoot throws down the sideline. The final play of the game was a perfect example. I think it was 4th and 5. Instead of an actual play, or any type of thought or reads from Brogan, he just steps back and lobs it 20 yards down the sideline, without it even registering that the receiver had been basically cut off from a clean route, and had pretty much given up on the play. Ball just sails way over his head with zero chance to make a play and the game is over.
Ken Barna, you are hereby nominated as the new EMU Offensive Coordinator!

RE: Ohio Game
Dear EagleTough,
Thank you for the nomination. I think Coach Creighton would have something to say about the nomination. We all just like to put our two cents worth into what we think could/should be accomplished. Some of us have played high school football, and some may have played in college, but that's what makes us experts. HA-HA.

I have DirecTV. Does that make me an expert? I can watch 25 games a week (not that I would).
