Tennis 2017-2018
What the heck does *this* mean:
"Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Sergi Fontcuberta (Barcleona, Spain) withdrew their match in the Division I doubles round of 16."
One doesn't "withdraw" a match. One can withdraw *from* a match, but if that's the case, how about a little explanation?
It's quite hard to draw much from these type of events (this one being the Southern Intercollegiate Championships down in Athens), but with the sketchy smatterings one can discern.........doesn't look like a great season will be shaping up.
Wenceslao Albin has transferred to Tennessee Tech, and is playing without having to sit out a year. He may have been our weakest player last year (certainly at times), but we needed his depth, and he *was*, as a freshman (2015-16), the SoCon freshman-of-the-year. I suspect that's a case of Yaser's absence being the reason, but I really don't know. Curious that.
On the other hand, we have Chris Mikrovas, who's also a non-sitting-out junior transfer from NC St., where he was kinda down on the totem pole.
And we have Sergi Fontcuberta, also a junior transfer from Northwest Missouri St.
I honestly don't want to, nor intend to, continue to point out the vast numbers of errors in the tennis copy, but this one is quite glaring:
"ETSU’s six-man roster welcomes four; David Rodriguez (Barcelona, Spain), Sergi Fontcuberta Coletes (Barcelona, Spain), Chris Mikrovas (Athens, Greece), and Tasei Miyamoto (Chiba, Japan). They return Juan Lugo (Maracay, Venezuela) Miguel Este (Caracas, Venezuela), and Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain.)"
That's a SEVEN-man roster. With Herrera being the only senior. I doubt seriously we'll contend for the SoCon championship this year - but am open to being surprised....
