Did you think we didn't know that? As a follow up, did you think we'd care? We are just happy to win, dude. But thank you for your contribution to the board.

Dude, if you going to troll, then go all-in. Kinda like when you were sued for slander.

Wasn't it Chip dip that got sued? The Major has a rep over 150!

Note to Major...........

When you go on someone else's board and open up with....'Not to denigrate your win'..
......you are almost certainly trying to denigrate our win.

We're not pretending it was Michigan or Ohio State. Just another positive step in the right direction for the program.

We LOVE the disrespect though. Keep it coming!

Nope, he was involved too.

No question. And no disrespect meant.

I should have added that beating Rutgers now is not as big a win as beating heavily-favored San Jose State in '87 Cal Bowl.

MAC football is better if all teams are competitive in OOC games, especially against P5s regardless of status of their programs.

EMU has good chance at another winning season-bowl berth this year. I am expecting a tough game in Ypsilanti in October.

In 2012 after Cubit was fired I suggested to a friend who is close to our AD they take a look at Creighton.

Response was "No chance."

Your gain.

Spot on. +2. I will say the whole Fleck thing worked out okay for you though.

Coaches are a crap shoot, just like the NFL draft. You guys found that out with the PJ hire, that went 10x better than anyone could have predicted. Lester, who knows at this point. First week Bronco fans loved him, second week they hate him, haha. Just how it goes.

Creighton would get a solid A if it wasn't for our recruiting struggles. EMU football history hasn't made it an easy place to recruit to, which is a legit argument. Although I bet Fleck would have recruited at EMU the exact same way he recruited at WMU. If we have another winning season, with another bowl game, and actually break ground on the new facilities after the season, all the excuses will be gone. Need all of those things to happen, plus the addition of a solid recruiting class, and Creighton's name will start getting thrown around for bigger jobs.

We'll see how the year plays out. No matter what anyone outside the program thinks.............the Rutgers win was a BIG win for EMU on many levels.

Is this really even a thread?
Yesterday's win was a good one.
Let's not blow it out of proportion.

Any win is a good win. Lets not forget that CC had a one win season.

I will say this much, this is the best team defense that I've seen in the almost 20 years that I've been following EMU football. We've got five picks already. I'm pretty sure I've sat through seasons where we didn't have five interceptions. That all starts with the D Line.

Absolutely, KPJ. You nailed it with the picks.

I assume the theory is that teams with poor DLs don't get a lot of INTs. That is, INTs are more of a function of good pass rush than simply good DB play.

And all this is cool, but we "gotta" beat Ohio.

RE: Biggest Football Win in EMU History: 1987 Cal bowl or 2017 Rutgers?
Can't really compare the two - different eras and all that.

But what is important about this win was:

Win on the road
Win against BIG10
Win against P5 conference
Win when were not favored
Win by overcoming some poor play/mistakes/penalties

I know some want better recruiting results now - but a win like this is huge to turn that Titanic ship around. We are changing a local and national perception from 30 years of futility. Winning cures all, and (dare I say it) this season may be better than last.

Up next - Ohio U!
