POST-GAME: Middle Tennessee 30, Syracuse 23
After last week's flop against Vandy, the Raiders came out with jitters, turned the ball over three times in the first quarter, then figured out how to play. 1-1 on the year with a win over Cuse. Huge victory for MT and the conference.

After some of the close calls the past few years, really glad to see MT pull this one out!

Agreed - finally, we get a big win on the road against a good team in a game that was back and forth...

Hopefully a bit of national respect for C-USA will come out of this win.

Huge chance to make another statement against Minnesota next week and move to 2-1 before hosting Bowling Green!

Bad news... Brent Stockstill may have re-injured his shoulder. Coach didn't want to talk about it in post game, said "We'll see about next week" re: Stock Jr...

Coach Shafer (previous head coach and defensive coordinator at syracuse) has done an amazing job with the defense, night and day difference from last few years under the previous defensive coordinator...

Speaking of flops, lol, a friend put this on Facebook:

"This dude on Middle Tennessee just dropped to the ground and faked an injury to try and avoid a penalty for having too many players on the field and their coach called a timeout and he hopped right back up real fast, like I'm all good now."

I didn't see your game, what the heck is that about?

Man they were booing every injured MT player, but that one was obviously worthy of an oscar. There's a thread on a syracuse board that included this:

"...they had too many players on the field. Would have been a penalty with an automatic 1st down. Guy went down not to slow us down - but to avoid a penalty....."

Which if it is the case, it was a very heads up move by our player... maybe not within the spirit of sportsmanship, but I appreciate it.

Syracuse had a player do the same and get treated for cramps laying literally inches from the sideline.

This is one Hilltopper fan that watched the whole game and loved when you knocked off the cuse. Congrats.

I get so sick of both sports radio and tv keeping separate stats on just the so called power 5..... you beat one on those teams, so either MTSU must be added to the power 5 or the cuse should be deleted.

Great Win !!!

Appreciate it 75. How did you like the announcers?

This is another way that ESPN is killing the sport. Both guys homer Syracuse fans (one a former player) and they must get coached to talk down about anything that's not a P5.

How about them commenting that "the ball definitely touched the ground" on our interception. Say what ?

Do you think the replay officials would have looked at the last offensive play as long if that would have been us trying to get the extra yard ? Would it have even gone to replay if it were MT ?

RE: POST-GAME: Middle Tennessee 30, Syracuse 23
No doubt. I was fulling expecting them to spot the ball at the 23 and give the automatic first down there at the end. I'm also surprised we didn't have some sort of illegal hands to the face or defensive holding penalty or something like that on that play that would have given them the automatic first down.

They were a good 4-5 feet from that first down marker. It would never even been reviewed had it been us on offense under those circumstances.
