Yes - the production values are not as good as commercial TV. Yes - the sideline reporting is a little amateurish (which is to be expected since she is an amateur - there was deeper info this week from her, so she did show improvement). And yes - the picture quality and camera work are not perfect. But it looked fine on my TV and I am very happy about that.

Just curious, before this year, did you have issues? I know there were a few folk who have never had issues, I believe Dolly has been one of the lucky few. I mainly want to hear from people who were ready to throw their computer at a brick wall the past few seasons when trying to watch something on Madizone.

RE: Madizone?
I typically did not have good experiences with Madizone in the recent past (since it switched away from Neulion) - but I honestly don't know if that was because I had an older computer.

Thanks! It's been a while but I have had conversations with Curt and he really wants to know this information. He monitors this board and occasionally posts, so I know he is reading this thread.

RE: Madizone?
No issues with Madizone for me today. I have had issues in years past with freezing and complete lockups.
The video quality was very dark though; kind of like watching a night game at the old JMU stadium with poor lighting.

RE: Madizone?
same, I've had issues in the past (see above, wanting to throw laptop/phone at a brick wall) but absolutely no issues today, was awesome! I thought it had something to do with less traffic since it was "blacked out" in VA, but BP said he was able to access in VA.

I'm an admin basher and think we should be entering our 6-7th year in FBS by now, but I gotta say, it was awesome to be able to text/chat with my family in VA all watching on TV. They would never make the effort to watch online like I have to, so it's nice that at least it was available in VA!

Since I couldn't make the game--I watched madizone yesterday--and it was perfect. No issues whatsoever.

RE: Madizone?
Only issue I have had this season is that the volume seems really low.

As far as picture it was flawless on phone, iPad, and laptop yesterday.

I don't know what to make of all this praise for "the man" (i.e. the JMU administration and Madizone). Something is amiss. Did the Germans stop complaining after they bombed Pearl Harbor?

Ok, I've got it. Madizone didn't provide free snacks. The Madizone concession stands suck!

Whether you care to admit it or not, the past three years of bombarding the way Madizone has worked with complaints since abandoning Neulion, made this happen. The first season with Stretch I went straight to Curt, Mike Carpenter, and Jeff Bourne.

Mike went so far as to tell me his boss, Geoff Polglase, was expressing his displeasure with the way it was working for him. We kept the pressure up because it was practically worthless for our use. JMU was wasting resources by even having this service available. Curt was very frustrated knowing that so many more folk could be reached if they could only get someone to take ownership of the problems.

It was like JMU went out and bought a brand new bus for the teams to travel, but the coaches wouldn't let their players board it for fear of a brake failure. Yet the bus would still go to the games but arrive empty and go back to Harrisonburg empty. Game after game, season after season, this new bus kept pulling out of the JMU parking lot empty. We had bought the bus, so we better dang well better be sending it to the games.

Finally, someone went to the coaches and asked why they were not using the new state of the art bus for team travel. Someone of power finally "got it" and had the brake system completely gone over and adjusted, repaired, and certified that the system is proven reliable. The coaches slowly have started using it but some are more difficult to convince it is safe than others. Eventually they will forget there was ever a problem.

The admin is actually quite genius in this regard. The picture quality still sucks (it looks pixelated on my monitor, can't imagine it on a 65" HDTV), the production value still sucks, camera work sucks, audio is about as good as listening to the radio through a garden hose, but... years of horrible streaming connectivity have lowered expectations so much that we're just glad to have minimal broadcast interruptions. So, the steady stream along with Curt calling the games has the admin looking like heroes.

Nothing like a famine to make you grateful for some crumbs.

I have not seen any pixelation on my screen this year - either on my computer last week or my 48" TV this week. It does not look HD, but it looks to be a normal SD.

To be quite honest, I think that has had something to do with all the jumping, stopping, buffering, etc. Look at ESPN3 today, they are now in HD and were not last year. I tried to watch a couple games on it yesterday and it was impossible to watch. I think we may have stepped back to SD and now we have a solid picture. Just my observation.
