SBC/CUSA- Would Make Sense- Probably Never Happen
Like a lot of things in this world, just because something makes a huge amount of sense, it doesn't mean it ever has much of a chance of really happening.

Saw MJS this morning at the Baseball Pancake Breakfast at Gary Hogan Field and we were talking about how compact the Big South Conference is geographically with all member institutions being located in three contiguous States of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. MJS commented that it would be smart for the SBC and CUSA to swap teams to make both leagues more compact and geographically manageable. The SBC was the higher ranked conference in both Football and Basketball last year, but still the CUSA would probably be resistant to the idea due to some sense of pride based on its former self and former membership.

But if common sense were to somehow breakout and prevail, here's what the two conferences could look like. Call each one whatever you like:

UTEP
Texas St
UTSA
UTA
UNT
Rice
La Tech
ULL
ULM
So Miss
Little Rock
ASU

ODU
Marshall
App St
Charlotte
Coastal
Ga So
Ga St
FIU
FAU
USA
Troy
UAB
MTSU
WKU

Sure would be easier on the travel budget for all involved, especially for the non-revenue sports. But egos will probably never let it happen!
