At best we would have to load all four non-conference games against P5 schools, and at most half would be at home. That would be a brutal schedule and make it harder to be bowl eligible.
The schedule would be no more difficult than for any current AAC member.

Quote:The biggest reason, in my mind, for joining a G5 conference at this time is to move the non-football sports into a better conference. However, I think it would be better to just improve our non-football sports to a level where better conferences that don't have football would want us.
All true, but especially the part in bold.

It would be a long-term project (10-12 yrs.), but if LU does things the right way, y'all could be a perfect candidate for the A-10.

Welcome to "Second Guess" Tuesday.

Here are the opinions du jour.

I believe so.

Why?

Oh, for about 24 million reasons.

That's how much money Liberty chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr., reportedly offered C-USA a little less than a year ago, according to The Virginian-Pilot newspaper based in Norfolk, Va.

I think ya'll would have left CUSA rather quickly for independence after transitioning.

They did. It was part of a later package they sent to the conference. My understanding is that the offer actually turned off the few remaining schools on the fence about Liberty. Presidents did not want to be seen that they would take anyone if the money was right.

It's not something that the SBC wanted out, and frankly the league did a very good job leaning on those who did know to make sure it never got published.

ODU needs to get Harry Minimum on a Leash.

SBC....No.

Why include us when you know there is zero chance we would ever even offer again? CUSA I can see because eventually the East schools are going to fuss enough that they split, but the SBC bridge was never likely to begin with.

Falwell's pot shot was sort of a weird attempt to publicly burn down a bridge that never actually existed.

That's understandable. LU has a P5 athletic budget, if they start averaging 30,000 per game by 2019 who knows where they will land someday.

Liberty's budget has not proven to be a difference maker recently. Though they've been the best performing Big South school in all sports over the past ten plus years, it hasn't been as pronounced in the sexy sports that attract viewers and fans. Liberty has the potential but needs to capitalize on it. It's part of the double standard people hold against LU; they complain that Liberty has too much money and will buy success but then complain that Liberty hasn't had any success. They can't have it both ways but that doesn't stop them from trying.

change to "should be able to" This makes the statement accurate. Very poor return on investment to date.
