A basement swimming pool full of sharks
Quote:In one of the more bizarre cases of people harboring illegal wildlife, environmental officers executing a search warrant on a home in New York's Hudson Valley discovered a basement swimming pool full of sharks.

Seven sandbar sharks were found swimming in the 15-foot-diameter above-ground pool at the house in LaGrange in Dutchess County. Officials also found three dead sharks: a hammerhead and two leopard sharks, according to the Daily Freeman and Albany Times-Union.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which announced the Aug. 23 discovery on Wednesday, was investigating allegations that someone was harboring illegal wildlife. The homeowner's name and address were not disclosed and no arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing.

The live sharks ranged between 18 and 36 inches with one measuring more than 48 inches. A veterinarian from the Wildlife Conservation Society assessed the condition of the sharks, which were caught, measured, tagged and put into oxygenated tanks and transported to the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead.

Some people want to be James Bond. Other people want to be a Bond-villain.

Lol, good times.

I forget the details but when they filmed that scene the sharks got much closer to Connery than what was planned/intended. A true holy-sh!t moment that luckily resulted in no harm.

DE: Begin the slow moving dipping mechanism. Close the tank!

S: Wait, aren't you even gonna watch 'em? They could get away.

DE: No, no, I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying and I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What?
