UTSA’s Lynn Hickey steps down as Athletic Director
Quote:(Sept. 7, 2017) -- University of Texas at San Antonio Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Lynn Hickey today announced she is stepping down from her position for personal reasons, effective immediately.

Hickey joined UTSA in 1999, leading the Roadrunners to three conference commissioner’s cups, two league all-sports trophies and team and individual academic and athletics awards in all 17 sports programs at the university. During Hickey’s tenure, UTSA competed in the Southland Conference from 2000 to 2012, during which time it added women’s golf, women’s soccer and football, then moved up to the Western Athletic Conference where it played for a year before joining Conference USA in 2013.

Just 3 weeks after she canned the WBB coach. Weird that she felt like that had to be done in the middle of August instead of letting the next A.D. make their own pick.

Hope it's not health related. She's been in the business a long time and may just need to take a break. Good luck to her and her family. And good luck in hiring a solid replacement.

The girls hoops coach didnt get canned. He had a health issue that was known about for a long time. It was known by other coaches at the summer meetings he may not be able to return.

This is waaaay too weird. Is there more to this story than we're being told?

An FBS AD doesn't just "resign" during opening week of football season. This sounds very suspicious for an AD that supposedly had good support from the school and the fan base. 03-no

Someone on the UTSA discussion board mentioned that we just got a new School President, so do the math.

@Goldstandard: thanks for providing clarity on that. I had looked around to find the reason he stepped down, and didn't see anything about that. Sorry to hear it and hope he will be okay.

That guy (name excapes me) was actually one of the most respected coaches in cusa. I think he has had some heart issues. But he did not attend the conf meetings in may and was not seen at any of the aau events. Many of the bigger events are in texas.

Coach Luby, and on behalf of our fans, I appreciate the kind words.
