Really feel for ASU fans
Miami has cancelled the game in Jonesboro this Saturday. Certainly the biggest nonconference game in Jonesboro ever. I'm sure ASU fans have been looking forward to this game for several years (since it was announced, anyway). The city of Jonesboro will lose millions in revenue (hotels, restaurants, etc.). All the other schools in Florida are playing their games. I believe FIU moved their home game to an out of state venue. ASU fans believe Miami was just looking for a way out this game. Hard to argue with that theory. Seems like getting far away from Miami would be a good and safe thing for the players. Really sucks for Red Wolf fans.

There must be some contingincy in the contract for Miami not playing this game. Either reschedule or financial payment. But, it is abundantly clear that this was a dodge by Miami to not lose in Jonesboro. The reason for cancelllation is clearly bogus as the team, and everybody else in Miami, needs to be leaving town!

Just to play devils advocate vconsider this. Miami probably has 200 in its official travel party. Let's say 70 are student athletes. That leaves 130 people who travel but dont play. 130 that have families (husbands, wives, kids, parents) and homes left behind in the affected area. Dont know about you guys, but i would rather be with my family and not worrying about a football game.

I have come around to seeing "the other side". There may be some legitimate reasons for canceling the game, but it is a terrible blow to ASU and the Jonesboro community. U of M's situation is not a whole lot different than other schools in South Florida (FIU and FAU) who have chosen to play their games (FIU is playing their "home" game in Birmingham, as well as schools in central Florida, U of Florida and UCF who have simply changed the time of their games.
