I think we need to give it a few weeks to really stew and fester.

I miss the combinations: F_U, UL-U Pick Em, etc. Tulane - at its bottom - used to make the warning list a few times (at like 3-7 or so).

Number 5 should have been listed as Every team in Texas except UTEP. Unless they thought UTEP deserved to be both 5 and 10. 03-banghead

Five years ago one of those CUSA teams hadn't played a football game yet and two others were busy posting identical 2-6 Sun Belt records.

Yes, they didn't figure out they put UTEP in twice.

I think many Texas schools from FBS down to the NAIA level had many loses. State of Texas is in a state of emergency for football.

One could almost lay this at the feat of the great weakness of the Big12 and the SEC's foothold.

Yeah, don't understand that, either. Wins decisively 38-7, as they should against a SWAC opponent, in the first game in 3 years with 45k+ watching. UAB may be a worthy target of derision at some point this season (may be) but I think they earned a pass in Week 1.

Were there really 45k people there or was that just the reported attendance?

(Not a UAB slammer FYI) They iz paying for my Telsa lol.

Yeah. This is looking toward the home side (Legion Field holds 75k without the tarps in the end zones). Visitor side was about 75% full. We had sold 52k+ tickets as of the day before, so the 45k number is "butts in seats."

That's impressive, but how? Did UAB do something to generate local interest?

The Bottom 10 now sucks.

The staff should come up with something original because these warmed up leftovers of **** aren't cutting it.

I mean, nothing other than the publicity of having the program yanked out from under them for 3 years then building the new on-campus facilities (not being sarcastic, just that a big part of the return was Birmingham rallying around the program as important to the city/area). The record for season ticket sales had been around 4k and they've sold over 11k last I heard. Keep in mind, things weren't as bad as people think when it was shutdown. Average attendance in 2014 was just over 21k, though there were some pitiful averages in there over the years when winning just 2 or 3 games per season, so if you think of it as double of what UAB did have it's not unreasonable.

Of course, that was the first game back and a special occasion so attendance will level out, but looking at the rise in season tickets an average in the 35k range for the season wouldn't be a shock.

Agreed! A G5 team couldn't ask for a fuller stadium
