FIU home game moved to Birmingham
Due to concerns over Hurricane Irma, FIU's home opener vs. Alcorn St. has been moved to Birmingham, AL. Sucks we lose our home opener. Btw, Miami cancelled their game at Ark. St. for fears of being unable to return home on time. Hopefully this hurricane stays away.

I'm perplexed by the Ark St/Miami game. Where are they going to send the players? Are they on their own to evacuate?

I interpret this as "we aren't sure if we would be able to return to Miami on time." Which is a BS excuse in my opinion. So worst case scenario they would have had to stay in Arkansas a few more nights.

I'm sure the players are taken to a safe place but I don't know the protocol on that. Just find it funny that FIU won't let a hurricane get in the way of their game.

That was kind of my thought. If you are going to be in Arkansas for the game, play it and then keep your team there until the storms have passed. Gets the game played and keeps the players and staff safe.

RE: FIU home game moved to Birmingham
I'm sure FIU spoke to UAB and asked them to use their facilities for the week and will then fly from Birmingham to Indiana for that game. There really is no point in coming back to Miami if there is significant damage to the town. I'm guessing um didn't want to hang around ASU because, Jonesboro?

If our AD were smart, they'd honor UAB season tickets for this game.

Our AD is not smart.

Are there any more details?

If FIU ends up cancelling, they are welcome to come to Jonesboro. We sort of need a game now.

Miami Could have stayed in Atlanta or Memphis. They didn't wan to play a solid G-5 team the week leading into FSU.
