Southern Miss fan and son seeking info for ULM road trip...
Hello all,

My youngest son (7) and I are making the road trip to ULM in a couple of weeks. I am looking for the lowdown on what we should do on Friday/Saturday/Sunday while we are there.

I am interested in places to go, things to do, what/where to eat, game day traditions, ticket availability/prices etc. If any ULM fans or other teams' fans who have been to Monroe on a game day weekend could fill me in, my boy and I would be very appreciative.

I am truly looking forward to this trip. I love college football, college campuses, and each school's individual game day traditions. I particularly love C-USA and the Sun Belt. I can't wait to see more of your campuses and traditions as college football for schools like our become more sane and these regional match-ups become more commonplace.

Go Eagles!

Top 3 things are what you can do.
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-...siana.html
The first one is the family home and museum of the first Coca Cola bottoming company. A lot of cool stuff.
2 Warhawks named after Chennault
3 Cool bayou.
Besides that there's nothing extra that's not your normal stuff.

Food
Waterfront Grill on the bayou near campus
Steak Ribeye with Rahkees sauce is the best meal I ever had.
Melvyn's has good burgers
Magic grill has good burgers and Po Boys
Mohawk Tavern oysters and seafood
Warehouse good seafood on the river
Aaron's Pharmacy good burger and breakfast.
Lea Lecomt spelling for breakfast
Kitchen Restaurant good for breakfast.

Sunday in Monroe a lot places are closed .
Lea is open for breakfast.

If you want some Latin food they have food breakfast at
Latin Food in West Monroe.

I highly recommend Waterfront Grill it's not fried food but it's my spot.BBQ Shrimp and Catfishes a desaied are good too.

Tickets probably get through your school and sit with your fans . It won't be crazy but I would assume a decent crowd.
Tailgating most people will offer you food or drinks. Just walk around the grove. They might have a kids area out for the first games:

If you have any questions message me. I will be more than happy to help. I won't make the game .

Of course there is also the Duck Dynasty place in West Monroe and the Chennault Aviation Museum. Add would also add the following restaurants:

Cotton is really good and has a fantastic Sunday Brunch. Also right above Cotton Planters is an Oyster -Pizza- Mule restaurant/bar on the river. They have all types of oysters, gourmet pizza, and every type of Mule (Moscow/Mexican, etc) and have a very nice balcony over the river. Also Rawz by campus has excellent sushi/Thai/Pho/Asian etc. Get out to the Grove early as it's a great tailgate area. Hope you enjoy your trip. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Is there any type of food you're looking for in particular?

Hope so it's one we circled as a possible win. Not saying we're going to win. They lost their QB but our run defense is suspect and Ito is a stud.

Is there a local restaurant/sports bar that really goes out of its' way to support ULM? I am looking for a college homer atmosphere. There seems to be a place in every college town that authentically supports the college and its' sports program. Does Monroe have this type of place?

Waterfront Grill and The Fieldhouse would both have that atmosphere and both are near campus.

I would say Waterfront Grill. That's where Coach Z had his show, that's where they take recruits for dinner every weekend since it opened.. Weems family owns the WF and the new Alumni building will his Don Weems as one of the two names. They have all types of merchandise have a bar with games on. It's on the bayou and you might see waterski team practicing. The food is really good. To me that's the ULM place it across from campus, you can see the campus. That's where I head when I come to down you will not be disappointed.

Waterfront and Fieldhouse are very ULM like Golata said. Also, there is a microbrewery called Flying Tiger that is cool too and very ULM based. Good beer and cool atmosphere.

Field House. Go to Field House has good burgers and wings. The person that owns it use to play for ULM. Trapp's is good to, think he owns that also, but Field House is what you looking for .
