is anybody arguing he's not on the heat seat lol
Can't imagine this happening, but if we win the division and the MAC Championship, and then either win a bowl game or play respectively, Carey is not on the hot seat.
Let's say we start 1-3, finish second in the West with one MAC loss to finish 8-4 , go to a bowl and lose ...... it still doesn't matter what we think. Where does STF find the money for a buy-out?
My biggest hope is that regardless of what happens, he doesn't get any type of extension again.

Carey's teams could go 6-6 this year and the 2 future years, and his contract would then end, and then we'd look for another coach.
Mediocre will let Carey keep his job, as Frazier extended him and this is not a hot issue given general NIU budget woes and no leader at the top of the school to drive a change. NIU's senior management focus is on other issues like staying relevant amid declining funding and enrollment.
I know us posters on this board care, but, there's no noise about a change any where else.
Side note - my daughter is 18 and chose a college in Chicago (close to home), her and her friends just don't care about football much, even the high school friends who played on their school teams. Me and other Dads at her college are much more interested in football than the kids. MY pocket of the world doesn't show how game attendance could go up, what do others see?

That's my fear. People have come to accept this lower standard. If fans don't demand more who will

We need to see Childers out there, maybe Santa, but Childers really needs a look.
The problem is that Santa looked awful throwing the ball in some practices. Not sure what happened with Childers because lots of people thought he was going to win the job at the beginning of fall camp.

They should have got Fleck when Doren left. Carey is a POS. No one has decimated the fan base more than Carey since Charlie Stadler.

Federal indictments do build character.
Could open up a whole new recruiting base.

Sabock is special teams coach and in response to 84 my daughters are mid 20's and are football (NIU and others) fans.

It is difficult to succeed as a HC without adequate seasoning as an assistant and then as an offensive or defensive coordinator.
I will always remember Bart Starr commenting that looking back on things he wished he had spent time as an assistant coach before attempting to be a head coach.

Yep. I am 100 percent convinced of that
