Ecu has had 3 off seasons...

We all go through cycles of poor leadership. It's our turn. It sucks. We hired an oaf for AD who hired a boob for a coach. The natives are getting real restless.

UCF was where we are. Tulane is were we are. So is UCONN. Just saying...

I don't think Tulane is where you are anymore, but we will see.

Let's hold the phone until there are good showings against Army and Navy.

I am really surprised to see the amount of piling on here. All it takes for anybody in our league to suffer is incur bad leadership. Goodness knows we had it with R.C. Johnson (Temple fans, I wish you had kept him).

You saw what ECU can do when they were at a lower level in the early 2000’s under AD Hamrick and John Thompson was coach ---- Hired Terry Holland (who I honestly think was the best AD in the nation while at ECU).

Holland hired Holtz and secured a plethora of extremely attractive home & home series. Then, how many C-USA titles won and big-time competitiveness? With the fanbase there and within a very fertile recruiting area, you know it can’t be down for long. I don’t know about Montgomery as an on the field coach, but he seems to be yielding good recruiting.

The only new obstacle that won’t be going away is something that those of us closer to the MS River (Memphis, USM, Tulane, etc) have had to endure for a lot longer --- quantity of other non-SEC/ACC to challenge for scheduling opportunities (and players). Until five years or so ago, from the Potomac to Georgia, the Pirates had no East Coast 1-A competition for series and players outside the power structure. That surely helped attain series with UVa, VA Tech &
WVU (although played them both a lot in the past), UNC, NC State, etc.

Now within that time span, I am counting seven schools in boardering states on the East Coast who have moved up: Old Dominion, Appy State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, GA State, GA Southern.

I think both UNC and NC State (Debbie Yow) have grown tired of losing to ECU --- and now have the excuse of playing others nearby (no knock on the fine program at Appy, but I think they’ve landed a series with one/both).

Long story short, ECU will be back … soon.

Nay, I envy their grass roots support.

ECU will bounce back.
