Like ND and BYU... the religious schools with more across-the-nation potential for appeal seem to do well in that scenario. Sort of the opposite of us big city/local-type universities... which largely make up the AAC. Wtih the money to invest in their program, they will be interesting to watch.
Eh, not really. Maybe.
ND is special since they have been a staple of college football for over a century and every Catholic in this country gravitated towards cheering for them. My family all grew up in Illinois, many going to U of I, but were ND fans because they were the Catholic power. No other Catholic schools have that appeal though.
BYU is because Mormons. Duh. It is "THE" Mormon university and every single Mormon in the country supports BYU. And even still, they're largely totally irrelevant now that they're independent. If they lose a single game their season is irrelevant nationally since they have no conference to play for.
Liberty is a Baptist university- one of tons throughout the country. I don't see why they'd be any more relevant than the others.
Thanks. Honestly I was not even sure WHAT religion they were... just that it was some sort of very conservative christian. If they are Baptist like so many others, then why do they get so much attention?

Baptist? Baylor is a Baptist school. Campbell is a Baptist school. Liberty is an evangelical school. I would say, "non-denominational Christian school."

Liberty has a $1.06 Billion dollar endowment.
BYU has a $1.47 Billion dollar endowment.
Notre Dame has a $10 Billion dollar endowment.
Liberty was founded in 1971.
-Just a quick Google. Over the next 20 years, Liberty is going to become a networking force. For good or bad, Liberty is going to be powerful.
