Here are the lowered expectations for NIU football under Rod Carey. We lose to low tier major programs, lose to other mid major programs, get blown out in postseason games, and we beat the bad MAC teams. Expect nothing more than that until RC is gone.

That was a big game last night. I think it was the cement casting of NIU as a not important football program anymore

Not by me. I've been saying it since 2014 and all anyone could say was "look how good his record is". Well, that's not a valid argument anymore and hasn't been for awhile now. It's not just one thing with Roderick, it's a combination and accumulation of things. Demeanor. In-game coaching/philosophy (too conservative). Talent evaluation. Most importantly, lack of results on the field, time after time. The man is stubborn to a fault and it will be his undoing. Lets hope it comes before the program is in ashes.

And why is he running a read-option with a QB that can't run well? Yeah Graham had a nice run but anyone could have done that with how much room was left on that side.

I think you were right in that nobody was going to unseat Graham because he appears to be the best practice field player, and while he's never going to be good in actual games, he makes fewer obvious mistakes like turnovers. Instead of taking a chance on a guy that might make a few mistakes but has a much higher upside and might amount to something eventually, he goes with the conservative choice in everything.

Most people on here had doubts about Carey. Even when they were touting his record a few years ago it was obvious that the record was slowly getting worse. Now, it's quickly getting worse.

Hugh? The fire Carey threads last year were loud and clear. My reading is that with "pro-Carey" comments they are often he is not as bad as made out/constant bashing, and not many he is a good/great HC.
