RE: Game Week: Rutgers
I browsed the Rutgers board. Not surprisingly they are confident their team will win. Some think they'll squeak by EMU while others are predicting an arse kicking.

Many think their team with try to pound it on the ground.

This might be a game where EMU will play 8 in the box and take their chances defending the pass. Perhaps 3 LBs on the field?

Agree with you Nickle. Lots of reps for D-line and LBs.

Was happy to see last game our ability to make adjustments vs. the run. The Charlotte QB runs stopped in the 2nd half.

We were very vanilla on offense last week - hoping to see the entire playbook on Saturday.

I'm thinking also that Rutgers has not yet learned how to win - and this will test our guys ability to overcome and get the W. Comparing to last year, we need a Ohio-type game, not an NIU collapse.

More worried about their DLine vs our OLine. If last week was any indication, we may again struggle to run the ball. I think Keen will look to the quick passing game, and let Roback take some shots downfield to Bailey and Aristilde when we max protect to give him a little extra time. Going to need to complete a few deep balls early to keep them honest and less aggressive.

Front 7 should be able to hold up in our 4-2-5. I believe Kelly and LaBarbera ready to provide extra manpower inside this week (Kelly got nicked and didn't play much vs Charlotte and LaBarbera was out). If we start getting gashed consistently, we'll just be more aggressive with Hoying and a Safety toward the line of scrimmage. Either way, Hoying and our safeties are going to have to read run quickly and come up and make solid tackles.

Most concerned about their big 4 star TE transfer from the Hurricanes who caught 6 passes week 1. Jerry Kill (their OC, previously Minnesota head coach) loves to use his TE's.

If we can keep it close into the 4th quarter, it will be a heck of a job of preparation and execution by the players and staff.

Will definitely raise some eyebrows nationally, and especially in the MAC, if we pull off the upset. Let's go Eagles!!!!

RE: Game Week: Rutgers
My Prediction:

EMU 23
Rutgers 33

This is a must Win game for Rutgers.
If we were ready to take a step to become the MAC champions, I would expect this game to be a victory. I am not sure our players are looking at this game as a Must Win. I do believe that Toledo and WMU would view this game as a Must Win if they were playing Rutgers. Since we have not been able to run the ball consistently, I don't see us winning this game. However, I do see major improvement in CCs team, because I'm very confident there won't be a blowout either. If we somehow catch a few breaks and Rutgers turns the ball over, then perhaps we earn a victory.

Go EMU!

Think about this for a moment without context: A B1G team is favored to beat us by only 5 points at home and no one is batting an eyelash.

Obviously, we're playing thr doormat of the Big 10 from last year, but we've come a long way.

Quote:So if one doesn't have DirecTV, have friends who do????

I've got Comcast. I did see that BTN has extra channels at 692 and 693. No guide available for those yet.

I can't speak for Comcast, but the BTN is usually set up for multiple games in same time slot.

That is obviously true in CFB where normally games are played on one day (Sat.) and there are only 3 real time slots (noon, 3:30 plus evening).

B1G will try to get all of their home games plugged into those 3 slots and, of course, during September that means several games on at the same time.

According to this article, we are on the BTN

http://emueagles.com/news/2017/9/4/footb...-week.aspx

Quote:That is true, but not the question. No doubt that BTN is doing the game.

The question is how are cable or satellite systems going to handle MULTIPLE simultaneous BTN games? One game? Two games?

The primary game in MI is WMU @ MSU.

Secondary game would be EMU @ Rutgers.

Does Comcast do multiple, simultaneous BTN games??????

This is from btn.com/gamefinder/. Channels are from Comcast (Ann Arbor).

Quote:Saturday, September 9th at 3:30 PM (ET) / 2:30 PM (CT)
- WESTERN MICHIGAN VS. MICHIGAN STATE: channel 65 or 256 (HD) and BTN2Go
- EASTERN MICHIGAN VS. RUTGERS: channel 692 or 264/1731 (HD) and BTN2Go

Need to get the kickoffs in the end zone to avoid big kickoff returns, coverage wasn't that hot against Charlotte. Need to do better than 34 yards per punt, this isn't high school.

O/T, but it seems that in 2016 our EMU defense did a better job stopping stopping Kareem Hunt than the N.E. Patriots did last night.

The nice thing about playing a P5 school is increased media coverage.

Huge opportunity for emu. Winning this game will spark media and fan attention early in the season.

Bottom line: Good MAC teams beat wretched Big 10 teams. So the question is simple, is EMU a good MAC team?

EMU by laying an egg tomorrow.

EMU had a fairly easy game vs. Charlotte while Rutgers had to lay it all out vs. nationally ranked Washington.

RE: Game Week: Rutgers
Completely lazy, uneducated statement to call this year's Rutgers team wretched, and some kind of Big Ten cupcake, simply because of last year's 2-10 team. They just played a very competitive game against the #8 team in the country, that was in the Final 4 last year. Not only that, they dominated time of possession, put great pressure on the QB, and played very well in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They had a new coach last year as well. Also added Jerry Kill as the new OC this year, who is very, very well regarded as an OC and QB coach.

Typical troll tactic though........talking the opponent down as much as possible, so the criticism can fly if we don't somehow pull the upset. Pathetic as usual, but obvious and expected.

RE: Game Week: Rutgers
Rutgers is picked 7th in the Big 10 East. They didn't come close to winning a Big 10 game last year and will SUCK AGAIN this year. They will be flat as hell coming off their game vs Washington. EMU absolutely needs to win tomorrow or they will NEVER beat a Big 10 team. I think they will.
