RE: RUN THE BALL!
Elon's line play alone doesn't deserve that. Freshman QBs, a few other things. They're going to be decent if those QBs develop.

Exactly. We were SUPPOSED to throttle these guys, and they've played hard. Save that crap for when we kick NIU and WMU in the nuts 03-nutkick

Fitting thread title. 03-wink

Wouldn't normally respect a score in a blow-out with less than a minute, but the kid earned it.

RE: RUN THE BALL!
I thought it was an excellent game... I thought Toledo played the second string all night... except in the third quarter... where they showed the strength... and then went back to the second stringers... where am I wrong?

RE: RUN THE BALL!
Questions from tonight?

Where was Swanson?

What happened to including the TE in our offense?

Secondary played well.

Good rush from the corners. Need help up the middle.

Got some things to work on. This seemed more like a practice. Should of put up 55-60+ points.

My only complaint was red zone scoring. Need TD's.

RE: RUN THE BALL!
I don't know about it being an excellent game. I think it was about what I expected. Woodside, Thompson, Johnson, and the running game will be enough to carry Toledo through most of the games. The difference will be if they can develop a slot receiver or TE to open up the middle. I didn't see that tonight. Only then will they be able to maximize the offense and make it a threat against tougher opponents. The defense, as expected, will have to continue to improve. There were about 3-4 plays that would have been touchdowns against Toledo had it not been Elon. I see Toledo with losses to Tulsa (if Tulsa is similar to last years' Tulsa team, Miami FL, Western Michigan, and probably a second MAC team. This will not be a walk in the park, but they could still win the MAC.

Re: that last TD drive (the Seymour show)—with a performance by the starting OL that left a bit to be desired throughout the game, I loved seeing the 2nd string come in and fight hard, and have their efforts pay off in the form of a TD drive.

I wasn't a fan of that wide open secondary either. Their QB just didn't make the connections but the openings were there.

That trick play would have been a for sure TD against anyone else.
