Signature win against a P5 team. First game as FBS bound. First game as a student. Very special game.

RE: Baylor Game Thread
Haven't posted in forever. Have to now. I think this was a hue team win. There were contributions across the board. Buckshot and AGG were the stars on O, but Mosely the O line and a ton of receivers were huge s well. I thought the O line was night and day from last year. And even though the D wasn't perfect, there were great plays and the D line had pressure in Solomon's face all night. Special Teams were awesome especially Probert with the clutch FGs and the amazing touchback kickoffs. But seriously, this Joe Daily O is Techmo Bowl material. 103 Plays??? breaking every record that has stood for ever. So excited.

The Bill will be slammed and hype Saturday night.

One important note of the importance of moving to FBS. Most folks had the 2014 Playoff win at JMU as the biggest win before yesterday. Note that most have last nights game (regular season) as a no brainer for biggest win. The power of beating a P5 team and the attention that goes with it is HUGE.

GO FLAMES! Thanks to all the other school fans for the congrats.

KH, it has been a VERY long time since you were on the board last. Welcome back. It was the premier win to date. Post more in the future. Your past post were informative.

RE: Baylor Game Thread
Observations on the game:
On LU
* playcalling - great game plan mixing the tempo. Hurry up, slow down, fast to the line then wait, all kept BU off stride. Buckshot did extra well with the last drive using almost all the clock before the snap

* QB - with the records Buckshot set, LU seems to be in a great position for this last year of limbo FCS and then 2018+ FBS. What a rifle of an arm he has. Those passes across his body, thrown with that velocity was raved about by the announcing team

* coaching - with the exception of the bad call to go for two rather than the extra point to have a 10 lead, Gill did maybe his best coaching with this one. Never was LU rattled, especially after Bu gained some mo and took the lead. I was waiting for BU to rattle LU and force a mistake. It did not happen. The team look motivated to win, calm under pressure and simply wanted it more than Baylor.

On Baylor
* playcalling - first quarter was lost completely with BU's bungling offense. Why they took to the air and did not attempt to ram the ball mystifies. World class sprinter wide-receiver Platt cannot be covered. Why BU did not attempt deep or long gain throws to him at the end was poor judgement. Those short yardage pass plays and runs at the end were terrible play calling.

* QB - the BU QB was a leader. He ran, he passed, he led his team. As a 5th year grad student, he showed poise and played a good game. He was solid.

* coaching - one has almost got to give the Baylor coach a pass for this year. With all the problems at BU, they did score 45 points, but gave up 48. Emphasis on improving the defense and the emergence of the freshman running back subbing for the starter, their offense is okay. Just get healthy in the secondary.

RE: Baylor Game Thread
Question. Has anyone heard what Gill said to Buckshot after his running play, when he elevated the ball before crossing the goal line, that scored a touchdown? After leaving the field, Buckshot was grabbed by the jersey by Gill, and held for several moments, with Gill in Buckshot's face. The announcers thought Gill was "impressing" upon Buckshot his actions could have called as taunting, and resulted in a penalty. The reason it caught my attention is that is the most emotion I have recognized from Gill ever during a game.

More than likely he got on him for busting the play. He turned the wrong way on the handoff. You know how coaches are, its all about execution, execution. He was lucky to run it in.

RE: Baylor Game Thread
Best part of the win was seeing all the alumni and students uniting. The past couple of weeks it's been a lot of division because of the politics Jr put the school in but the win had everyone proud to be Flame! including me! Everyone in the nation was talking about Liberty football and not Trump this and Falwell that.

Signature program win to start the FBS transition. A lot of people took notice including recruits. Lets keep the momentum up and not have a let down. Jax State should be the only toss up this season. Any other loss will be a disappointment.

Agree 100%. As the one LU fan who has busted LU's chops likely the most, I too was enjoying the moment of the victory. With the victory it puts higher expectations on LU not to lose the should win games. There should not be a let down this week with the home opener. The key will be coaching to keep the team playing with focus and not relaxing that 1/10 of 1% with games after Saturday, especially BSC games, that could lead to a missed assignment or lackadaisical play and consequently a loss or losses.

My thought also. If anyone on the LU board calls into the coach's show, I would love to ask the question and get Gill's answer. If so, please post. I'm not a radio-sports-show-caller.

Coach said it was a numbers and alignment thing on the 2 pt. conversion, as well as they wanted to be aggressive and take the offense to Baylor.

FANS IN THE STANDS AT BAYLOR.

Watching the game on TV, I kept waiting for the camera to scan to the LU fans when a big play happened. I never saw one pic of the LU fans. Does anyone know how many traveled and attended the game? I did see post game, individual clips of the players at the LU fan section but have heard no numbers.

Well....

The Sun, Moon & Stars all aligned correctly... NO, we simply played top notch football!

Buckshot blew me away, especially after watching all of Liberty's QB's over the past 10 years. He is a step above his predecessors.
