Don't be obtuse.
Folks are obviously a little sensitive to any possible hurricane post Harvey. Folks will hopefully make the correct decisions if and when this storm approaches land.
I'm being serious. He criticized Houston for not getting out and now this so I'm asking a serious question. When is he going to make the decision to get out?

Not trolling. Just looking for consistency. Remember, I don't care if you are conservative or liberal. If you criticize this thing or that.
I just want to be consistent.

Not to mention the fact that I'm over 100 miles from the coast and don't live in a flood zone.

Early would be 3-4 before forecasted landfall... Not 7-10 days and without a forecasted landfall. Use reason.

My wife and I have 4 80+ year old parents to deal with. Im making preliminary plans NOW to move them if necessary this time. The last storm cut me off from one pair due to flooding and it was bad situation. My wife will be moving them out of town if this this one comes in around the NC/SC border. Im 30 miles inland. Ive already secured safe haven for everyone with friends and relatives further inland. I will stay behind and look after the properties.

It's not a matter of reason. It's a matter of living in an area that doesn't have to deal with hurricanes.
I have no idea how many days notice a person needs to leave an area safely. Houston had at least 3 or 4 days and many on this forum believe that staying was the right thing to do.
Frankly speaking, Kaplony is probably the one on this forum who didnt agree with the Houston mayor.

85% is pretty good odds. I'll take that and Toleris' skepticism and sleep a little easier. At least for a few more nights.

Yea, 3-4 days if you live in a congested area of 6 1/2 MM people and the interstates are all clogged all the time already. I don't know where Kap lives or that area, but if we ever had to flee a storm or flood waters we could do so with a couple hours notice.
Trolls just gotta troll. (not you, of course)

Yeah, it's nothing to be overly concerned about right now but something to keep an eye on until the first of the week or so to see how it develops.

It's crazy that as soon as you get a Republican prez you get nailed with these hurricanes again. Almost like a liberal has a switch to put in on the front burner. Crazy.

I'm in the northern Midlands so if we have to evacuate because of a hurricane they'll need to create a new category beyond a 5.
We aren't even particularly flood prone.....there's one or two areas that will flood along major streams and the river but overall we don't flood. In 2015 it was just the fire hose effect that got us after heavy rains in the Upstate earlier in the week. Even then we had no problems here where I live. My property adjoins a flood plain but with my corner marker sitting 15' above the creek run we didn't even have any trouble here in 2015.

Similar here, We have a nice little feeder stream in the back yard you can hear gurgle along some evenings, then drains into the James River which our development fronts. But, we also live in the first coal country in the US, so it's kind of hilly. If we had a major flash flood (like something insanely crazy, glacier melt or something) we could be at about 350 ft just by driving to the next adjoining development.

Yeah, same here.Lake Murray isn't too far away and at it's deepest it's 360 feet deep if that gives you an idea how high above sea level we are.
We evacuated my Mom from her house during the flooding in 2015 but that was because of pond dams failing on the two creeks on either side of her house and I knew they would wash out the bridges and isolating her. She had just had surgery the week before so we went ahead and had her come stay with us. If it were to rain like that again today it wouldn't be a problem because neither pond dam has been rebuilt yet.
